  1. Hi all, friend of mine has a 2001 disco and it is behaving strange. It wont start and there is a clicking under the passenger seat. It bump started once now nothing, not even a jump from my landy or anything. Havn't really had a good look but thought you knowledgeable folk might know. Clicking sounds like a relay but i am only guessing. Many thanks in advance.
  2. Evening all, I have BFG AT's on my defender and the tread is running fairly low so i want to change for the winter, but dont know what to change to. What are the best tires for winter use - is it an AT pattern or is a snow and ice tire better?? I was thinking of putting a snow and ice tire on for winter and changing over to an AT for the summer?? Is this worth it or would i not notice the difference between a snow and ice tire and a standard AT pattern. Sorry about being long winded. Many thanks
  3. Thanks for the replies will get under and investigate this morning. Simon
  4. Brilliant thanks Errol will give it a go tomorrow and see if i can find anything.
  5. Hi all, The landy has started to pull to the right when i apply the brakes suddenly or abruptly. I am fairly sure this hasnt gone on for long but i dont tend to brake suddenly if i can help it. But to avoid a stupid boy on a bike i applied the brakes hard and the landrover nearly mounted the pavement!! Have had both front wheels off and have checked the pads and made sure the pistons can move and arent jammed. There is no fluid seeping down or anything. I drove down the road with my hands off the wheel and broke and it shot right then straightened again. Dont know if anyone has had this before. Many thanks in advance Simon
  6. Morning all, Trying to fit my cb just above bonnet release catch. Sily question i know but how can i get the screw on the bracket to pull tight?? Thanks
  7. yeah thats sounds like a plan. I will do that first. Wish sorting out the landy was as easy as having a smoke!!
  8. Hi all, Further to a post a while back - my 300 is still smoking. The turbo was found to be loose so was replaced so now have mroe power but still have some smoke issues. Its especaiily bad pulling away in first and when the engine is under compression like reversing slowly up a hill or drive etc. Is there anything else i can check as it annoys me so much. The smoke disappears after a while but when left to idle it will come back. Many thanks
  9. That must rub on full lock no?? Maybe not looks good though. Think i will be ordering the same bar as you as well. Thank you for your help.
  10. Yeah true if you have the option then it doesnt matter really. What lift do you have on your truck sorry for the questions but i really quite like it.
  11. Excellent chaps, I will look into this. Interesting points about glare is this a massive problem then. I prefer the look of the lights below the light bar itself rather thatn above because i dont have a roof rack fitted. Godley keeper thats a fine truck - what size are those tyres?
  12. Evening all, Just a general question really am looking for a light bar and 4 spots for for 90 but firstly dont know where to get the one i want (black tubular style) and also what lights would be best bet. I am guessing I want the small lights prob 4 x 55w and have them flood rather than spot, I have driving lights as well which are spot obviously. Just looking for ideas and manufacters really. Cheers Si
  13. Good good. Space is a little problem at home so 10 x 5.5ft is about max but at a push i might go 8 x 5 apart from the single dropsides not split which i am not overly keen on it gets akward in tight spaces because you always have to be 8ft clear not just 5
  14. Thanks chaps it all sounds good for ifor although i am still keeping an open mind.
  15. Thanks for more replies - Atlas looks a good trailer - not too worried about its tipping due to the fact of the cost involved in buying the things. The trailer has garage space so it would be locked away no probs. My gut feeling is Ifor but i need to know the capacity really - i suppose someone will come along in a minute and tell me!
  16. Thanks for replies yeah i have thought about Brian James but havent really looked into them. The LM is the one i am after whichn is 2700kgs gross. I am looking for 1500kgs to 2000kgs loose material is this realistic because i know it takes alot of room up - and the sides are only 1 foot (i think)
  17. Hi all, Am in the market for a new trailer to carrying building materials to and from jobs etc. I am looking at the ifor williams lm105 and indespensions equivilent. Both flatbeds. I know the differences between the two but not having owned either i would like your opinions on what is the better option. Also could anyone shed light on the carrying capacity of loose material (mostly sand and aggregate) in the trailer. (not in dumpy back but loose) Many thanks in advance
  18. Its not my boat, its a mates but the trailer is ummm under the weather - to put it a nice way. So i am hoping that that was the problem. Landy doesnt have much in it just a few bits and bobs so it would have been interesting to see it on a weigh bridge.
  19. Yeah sorry - i meant low range (high ratio) So is that ok its just i thought you could tow more in high range (low ratio) than 2100kg withoutn dropping into low range
  20. Up the slipway yes. But not on the road - it was fine in first but the change to second was only possible up the slight incline by slipping the clutch. Low ratio was fine yeah no prob - still not too good with low to high on the fly - find it hard to stop grinding (see thread a while back that i posted). So should i need low for that weight 2100kg??
  21. Hi all, Just took a boat out the slipway weighing 2100kg with trailer. I havent done my trailer test yet but took it up the private road for him for someone else to pick him up. Its the first time i have had anything like that on the 90 and boy did it seem to stuggle especially when trying to get momentum for a 1-2nd change. The slipway was ok but the private road with a slight incline was a nightmare. Is this normal?? Many thanks in advance
  22. Cheers for the replies guys. Anyway of checking the CV to make sure or not?
  23. Hi all, I am trying to work out what is 'clicking' when i turn left. I have looked underneath and nothing is loose. It seems to be under the left hand side of vehicle like under where passengers feet goes. Anyone had this before? At first i thought battery knocking but that is secured? It sounds like your jaw clicking in and out!! Thats the only way to describe it. Cheers
  24. I am away from the landy at the moment but i will take a picture for you all to see. Inlet gasket leaks oil, its water which its losing.
