  1. Perfect thank you! And it's an early SIII, but I had to get another bulkhead, which looks like it came from a late one. Cheers
  2. Hi All, Does anybody know what panel I need to make my flat bulkhead fit the series gearbox tunnel? See photos to see what I mean. Thanks, Chris
  3. Superb, thanks guys! Off I guy to the other threads to do some more research.
  4. Hi Chaps, It's been a while since I've posted, but somehow I've started another series rebuild. Only problem is I'm struggling to find someone to do the welding that's required. What I need to do is replace the bellhousing crossmember (I've got a new one to slot in). Patch up another cross member, maybe move one of the tub supports, and replace the A-posts and footwells on a bulkhead. The first question is: I've never really welded before, is this a time to learn or are these tasks going to be too much for a newby welder? I've got another chassis to practice on which I imagine could be useful. The second question: if this is a time, then will a welder like this do the job? http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Migmate+T135+Turbo+Gas+/+Gasless+Welder/p17583 Thanks for any advice, Chris
  5. Well I've finally got my 90 running great with a 200tdi install, great write-up in the techy section guys!! Starts and drives and all the electrics work. For the air-filter I'm using the original 2.5TD filter in the original position (it's fitted after chopping one of the 3 legs off). I just need to connect it up, where would people suggest as the best place to source the 3" concertina style hose to connect the air intake-->air filter, and air filter-->turbo? Thanks, Chris
  6. Excellent, well I went for the tapping the disco bellhousing method, unfortunately despite tapping to the full depth the thread pulled out when torquing up. But I've decided to leave it as it is, as I'm running short on time to get this done. Now my further bad luck with bolts continues with trying to do the timing belt. 1 bolt sheered when removing the water pump, and 1 bolt sheered when remove the timing cover. Both in the top right hand corner (as looking at the engine from the front). I would be eternally grateful if someone could look up the part numbers for these bolts so I could order some new ones, or if someone has some of these spare and can post there's some beer tokens in it for you! Thanks, Chris
  7. Ah, that's given me a bit of a choice now. I must admit I foolishly only found out about the bellhousing problem after trying to fit the engine. So I can either tap or replace the bellhousing. A couple of further questions if I may? 1) What size do I need to tap the new holes 2) Is there a guide to replacing the crank seal anywhere? I've tried searching the site, and unfortunately the old estonian manual archive is offline. (at least the downloads are anyway!) Thanks, Chris
  8. Morning all, I'm putting a disco 200tdi engine into my 90, and I'm currently swapping the bellhousing over from the 2.5TD. I'll be needing to renew the gasket between the bellhousing and the engine block. Is there a difference between the 2.5TD gasket, and the 200tdi gasket? If so which one should I order? Thanks, Chris
  9. Posting this on behalf of a friend who's taking his engine out (not land rover)... "changed the oil in my 350i......this fell into the bucket. It's very small as you can see, with ID of 6.5mm and OD of 8.85mm. Anyone know what it does (did)???"
  10. Hi all, As my 2.5TD is currently blowing a lot of blue smoke (and it wasn't in particularly good shape beforehand) I'm considering fitting ta 200tdi out of disco. After looking at the tech archive on this procedure there's seems to be a common trait with cutting and welding the mounts to fit the rad and intercooler. My question is this: is the altering of the brackets only required to fit the rad & intercooler out of a disco, or will buying a rad & intercooler from a 200tdi defender mean I won't have to make the alterations? Hopefully a simple question with a simple answer! Thanks, Chris
  11. Awesome weekend guys, thanks again to Chris and Paul for not organising it I think I may have broken my engine though as there's a lot of blue smoke being emitted from the backend. It's a good excuse to upgrade from the old 2.5TD anyway!
  12. If anybody has to buy the relevant maps (or any maps indeed) from the OS website I have a discount code that's good for 20% off.
  13. I might well have a passenger so I'm more than happy to hand them a map and let them navigate. Will have a CB fitted too. So count me in to lead a group... just don't get too upset if we end up completely lost
