For off-road use I would stay with halogen. Cheap and nasty and you don't need the massive amount of light. The 110 is primeraly an overland vehicle in Africa so rather than add spotlights and wires ..... I went the HID option. Live of HID bulb is 2500 hours vs halogen at 800 hours.
Igniters are fulle sealed units and I doubt if water will get into the igniter ...... on the globes ..... another story
On illegal ....... not in Africa boet
Bought from USA ..... shipped to South Africa which added a bit but cost in USA is under US$ 290-00
Best is to go www.ebay.com and search for "HID xenon"
The sollution to dim Defender lights ..... http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/moorea/Ruby.html
(Click on HID mod to see details of installation)
Without spot lights or more powerfull bulbs Xenon on left (35W) vs Osram Brightstar (55W) on right
Ha ...gonna have a look at those headlights as it gave me headaches ;-)
Know the front are civilian hubs but removed the free wheel hubs and ordered correct ones from UK ...... GBP 45 enough not to also pay GBP30 for shipping. Will collect on next UK visit.
Thanbx for the info, I'll fix the last 1% as well.
See in the magazines that a few of the hard core off-road challenge vehicles have the xhaust exit center of rear panel, above where a std. 90 xhaust exit? I can understand the danger of getting it pinched with a very steep departure but what are the dangers of getting water in there ...... stalling with an xhaust filled with muddy water could cost a a few bob?
From Africa
