  1. I had the same problem about 2 years ago. Does the oil being blown out look or smell like pure ATF or is it contaminated with other oil? Mine was, caused by a leak on the input shaft seal to the overdrive allowing transfer box oil through into the overdrive, overfilling it and then blowing it out through the breather. Before this I noticed that the overdrive had started to be sluggish in operation - it could take 3 or 4 seconds to drop out of engagement, particularly when cold. This was due to the thicker oil. The checks GKN told me to do were; 1) Check the breather is clear on the transfer box 2) The adapter plate has a drive sleeve with a seal - check that it isn`t damaged. 3) The seal fits around a shaft supported by bearings - check for excessive play in the bearings. 4) There are 7 bolts on the adaptor - the 2 nearest the handbrake are not sealrd and can leak oil through. Hope that helps.
  2. Gas Guzzlers, per se, only exist in the minds of journalists and politicians - i.e. people that don`t live in the real world and actually believe the things they say or write. I suspect the phrase originally came from America (the clue is the word "gas") where single figure mpg was not unusual in years gone by. My other concern is the adoration of hybrids, such as the Prius. I`m sorry but they are driven totally and completely on petrol like a lot of other cars. Any electricity generated, stored and used to drive the car is derived from burning petrol. It is not magic - and a lot of more conventional cars (mostly diesels) are actually more economical in real world use. And don`t get me started on what it costs to manufacture the extra batteries, motors etc. and when it comes to disposing of them at the end of their (limited) life................
  3. The £500 benefit in kind still applies, up until next April, when it will become £3000 B I K., not related to the purchase price. This will still be cheaper, for the top of the range (ie expensive) pick ups, than running a company car. nicam
