POLICE are hunting thieves who stole a rare car while its owner was out of the country.
The Land Rover Defender, registration number B922 YBV, was reported stolen from Cambridge Gardens, Helsby, on New Year’s Eve.
Owner Simon Robinson, 40, who was away in France at the time, said he fears the car may have been stolen to order.
He said: “It took me more than a year to restore the car at a cost of £22,000.
“The police told me a few Land Rovers had been stolen over the New Year period so I think it’s been done to order.
“If anyone knows anything I’d be really grateful if they contacted police.”
Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police on 0151 709 6010 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
