  1. Must be thick paint to make up that inch!
  2. You should've seen some the light arrays, Ralph you'd been impressed. Pity they were only on marshals vehicles...............................
  3. Harking back to what Ralph has said, I was out marshalling (Radio) on the Malcolm Wilson this weekend. You wouldn't believe the different arrays of Amber beacons/Lightbars/LED's/flashing lights fitted to private vehicles, some only saloon cars/hatchbacks etc. So where do they legally stand? On Forestry roads, they may be able to flash away merrily, but driving home with them switched off, how do they stand?
  4. It should just bolt in. I used Rivnuts, but you can use almost anything. You may have to drill a few holes, but it's not rocket science. I've never fitted a Standard Cubby box, only pattern or Secure boxes.
  5. He's a better driver than I thought, He managed to hit the tree without hitting any of the parked cars.
  6. All the same, there might be hidden damage. Defenders are't reknown for their crumple zones! It also might worth checking if anyone "owns" the piece of nature you're friend hit. Or you might find you have other worries to contend with!
  7. How "Good" a mate was he? & was he insured (daft question-but had to ask) You need to look behind the impact, what else has moved/broken free?
  8. Just be careful with the strap on racks, the straps can stretch over time. After a few years you'll end up with bikes on the floor. That's the reason I modded the Simbars rack, there was less chance of it falling off!
  9. This is the Simbar Discovery rack(modded to fit a 110).
  10. Appeal after customised car stolen Jan 8 2009 by Mark Smith, Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News POLICE are hunting thieves who stole a rare car while its owner was out of the country. The Land Rover Defender, registration number B922 YBV, was reported stolen from Cambridge Gardens, Helsby, on New Year’s Eve. Owner Simon Robinson, 40, who was away in France at the time, said he fears the car may have been stolen to order. He said: “It took me more than a year to restore the car at a cost of £22,000. “The police told me a few Land Rovers had been stolen over the New Year period so I think it’s been done to order. “If anyone knows anything I’d be really grateful if they contacted police.” Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police on 0151 709 6010 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
  11. Mine is insured with NFU. As per the others only insured for 8 seats, but then again I wouldn't put any of my children in side facing seats. So I've taken them out. It's now a 5 seater with a large boot!
  12. I didn't fit the light, the Royal Navy did it for me.
  13. One Front mounted work light. It was fitted before the Roofrack And before any makes any comments, I've removed the spare wheel mount. Taking a 235/85x16 from the bonnet is bad enough, the thought of trying to remove it from up there !!
  14. Does this answer your question, I like to stay on the right side of the law regarding rear plate/lights
  15. Or on the other side if you have a Roof rack, & ladder,
  16. I "sandwiched" mine by using a Aluminium chequerplate door card. I'd initially braced it with plates, but after a while, & the roadworks on the A849, the frame cracked again. I was using 7.50x16 tyres tho' Hence the comment about losing small cars.
  17. The Hinges are the least of your worries! Over time the vibration will cause your door frame to crack, usually across the "H" framing across the middle of the door frame. Get a carrier, it's worth it in the long run. Bonnet is OK, but can be a pain, quite literally-if it falls on your head whilst working on the engine! I've done it without the spare on, & it still hurt. You also lose sight of small cars if you fit larger tyres.
  18. Toyota lift kit Manual version.................
  19. I'm just wondering what I'm doing in your Land Rover!
  20. Haven't got the bench seat problem. Just fitted highbacks to the outer seats.
  21. Eyesight is failing around here! Poor Chap has a 110!! I know the feeling, my 110 currently doesn't read above 1/4 full. It will be the sender caught up on the internal baffles of the tank. You need to take it out, & re-insert it, missing the said baffles. Try & get it right first time, buy a new seal, locking ring, & be careful removing the old one. Make sure you don't damage the ring holder on the tank. It awkward to get to, wear a woolly hat, because you bound to bang your head during the proceedure. Not that I would know................. Good luck!
  22. You could try these people, http://www.prometheusmedical.co.uk/ They provided a Course/Technical support for the "Go 60" (Land Rover Employee Expedition). It could be expensive, but they may be able to provide information on suitable First Aid Kits, & equipment. They may be able to run a course suitable for your needs. We found their training, & help invaluable.
