  1. Well my bug came back I paid the £350. Can you believe I got home and read the invoice from the garage that carried out the work and it reads: Investigate - not run - air con bracket found to of broken causing drive belt to fall off and make contact with cambelt - causing cambelt tp fail - bending all valves. source cylinder head and re build. so it was as I said and as RAC said!!!...would the air con bracket be just wear and tear though??. going to contact warranty company tomorrow and check. wondering if the dealer even has a warranty company!! total fix cost this time was £879.06 add on the new start motor/battery/etc they have had to do, it looks like they are getting out of making a loss on their sale.
  2. Well I have been told today my Freelander will be ready on Monday at 3pm for collection. 2 days before the warranty runs out..hmmm!!! the dealer is confindent apart from normal wear and tear on tyres etc nothing can go wrong as the amount of work been done in the last few weeks. I am really excited to see my bug a gain after 3 weeks apart...but what is a reasonable amount to pay for an extended 12 months warranty...peace of mind. Had initial 3 months warranty but they have had it in that time for 4 weeks and 3 days.
  3. spoke to all authorities I could and got costs down to £350 for full build....they wanted £1200!! so not too bad. so when I get the car back it will have new head gasket, cam belt, fan belt, alt belt . starter motor, battery , immobiliser, iginition barrell. all done. give me a clue for any other engine probs..lol!!...spoke to freelander owners and only immoblise and head a problem normally. getting chassis checked and all fingers crossed will be green laning in my naughty pup soon as.
  4. Thankyou all so much for you input and advise...so much food for thought and advise. First call tomorrow Trading Standards, next Finance Company, I will keep you all posted as to how things pan out. fingers crossed.
  5. was an independant dealer unfortunatley...half cost of vehivle on finance so will get onto finance and warranty company about it...I am so gutted as wanted an LR Freelander for ages!!
  6. Hi Guys and bear with me..lol! Monday my 04 1.8s Freelander brokedown on me, basically odd noise then complete loss of power. Called out RAC and they reported to me that the Air Conditioning Compressor had come away and pulled of the Fan Belt. The Fan Belt wasn't snapped just off. Got towed back to dealer, who has messed me about all week not calling when he said he would etc. Wednesday he said it was in and a couple of guys were looking at it, Thursday said no news..rang me today and said basically Bad News...not covered by warranty!!! they say the fan belt(not a part covered on warranty) went first, then snapped the cam belt which has damaged the head (shot valves/pistons etc. ) and I would have to pay full repair...I feel they are really avoiding the cost to themselves and I really do not know what todo or where I stand. It is there word to me against the RAC...what woudl you do. Planning on threatening Trading Standards. This is the 3rd time in 9 weeks they have had the car back, they have had the car for 2.5 weeks of its 3 months warranty. Advise Please It was bought on 16th Dec. with full service history and full 12 months MOT, Head had been replaced 200 mile before I purchased it. Julie
