  1. 2001 "Y" reg Freelander TD4ES. Have just discovered a bad fuel leak from a connection just under the Engine electronic control module. It was coming from this connector which I have now pushed back together. What I want to know is? Will it happen again? Is this a common problem with TD4s and if it is, is it easy to replace this connection? and if so, How? I will put a photo on and the connection is right in the middle of the photo. Any help appreciated.
  2. Hi, I have just bought a set of 4 Freelander alloys that supposedly will fit my 2001 TD4 Auto, the model with the bigger brake calipers. What I need to know is: Could somebody tell me if they will fit from the following numbers. RRC002960XXX 6.0JX16H2 ET 46.00 E DOT. and RRC114780XXX 6.0JX16H2 ET46.00 E DOT. I HAVE 3 WITH THE TOP NUMBER AND ONE, WHICH IS NEWER WITH THE BOTTOM NUMBER. ALL FOUR WHEELS CAME OFF THE SAME VEHICLE BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YEAR AND MODEL IT WAS. I cannot try them on the car because my Wife is using the car to visit relatives and it wont be back for a few days. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Hi Disco Mikey, Could you send me a photos of the wheels Dave
  4. Hi Disco Mikey, How much are you asking for the alloys? l
  5. Hi, Has anyone got a set of Freelander 16" or 17" alloys for sale, with or without tyres. Must be able to fit later Mark1. Dave
  6. Hi, I have been trying to buy a set of 16" or 17" alloys to fit my 2001TD4 for over a year but all the ones I enquire about are from earlier models and will not fit. Could someone please clarify which number wheels will fit my model Freelander the one with the bigger brake calipers. RRC1123CXX RRC115070XXX RRO112310XXX RRCT12310XXX Or will none of the above fit without the need of spacers. Thanks All help would be appreciated Dave
  7. Hi, Does anyone want to buy my X reg Freelander TD4S AUTO, Silver, 108k with history. MOT July 2013.TAX Jan 2013. Now I"m an old git collecting my pension I need to get a smaller Auto or swap with cash for a cheaper Auto Freelander. Really sorry to see it go because it drives faultlessly, is probably the most comfortable car I"ve owned and looks pretty good as well. I"d be looking for offers around £2800. Cheers
  8. Hi all, I own a 2000 Freelander TD4S AUTO which hasn"t got a Passenger air-bag. My question is= Is it possible to fit a passenger Air-bag? and if so would my local garage be able to fit it? Knowing how badly Freelanders faired in Euro cap tests I feel it necessary that an Air bag should be fitted to protect my front seat passengers. Cheers
  9. After a heated discussion in the pub last night I need to ask a question. One of the lads seems to think that a 2 wheel drive Freelander TD4 Automatic is much more economical on Diesel than a 4 wheel drive version. Now logic tells me this is correct, but can someone confirm it please. I have been toying with the idea for quite a while but didn"t know whether there was anything to gain from doing it. Cheers
  10. Hi, Jumped in my Freelander TD4S Auto today to drive less than 2 miles to the supermarket doing around 30mph in built up area with no hold ups. When I stopped and parked the car steam was billowing from under the right hand front overflow pipe. Any ideas why? The Freelander does not lose water, and hasn"t done since having a new radiator fitting following an accident in last 2010 when a large HGV reversed into me. I check the Oil and Water weekly and the levels do not move. This is the first time it has happened and did not do the same on the journey back home. Is it just a one off or is there an underlying problem waiting to rear it"s ugly head? Any help or advice would be appreciated Cheers Dave
  11. Hi, Can anyone help? When I turn the engine off on my 2001 TD4S it is nearly impossible to remove the ignition key unless I jiggle it about for a minute or two. It is also sometimes difficult to put the key into the ignition and I have tried both sets of keys and the result is exactly the same. Do I need a new ignition lock and if so are they relatively easy to fit and how much would they cost? Any help appreciated Dave
  12. Hi All. Does any kind person out there have a set of post 2001 Freelander Alloys that I can buy at a very reasonable price. It"s not that I"m a tight person, rather an O.A.P that loves Landrovers but can"t really afford to run them. There are loads of earlier Freelander alloys for sale on ebay but very few Later Freelanders. My present Freelander is an X reg 2000/2001 TD4S which has the larger brake callipers and is running on 15" Steels wheels, but I really would like 16" or more Alloys to improve the looks of my car. I did toy with the idea of buying earlier Alloys and fitting them using Spacers, but no-one is able to give me a definite answer to whether this is OK and what size Spacers I would need. Please please help Cheers Dave
  13. Does anyone have a set of 4 or 5 Freelander 16" Alloy wheels with tyres for sale. Must be able to fit 2001 Freelander which has the larger brake callipers. Would consider a set without tyres. Cheers
  14. Hi, Please help!. Will a set of 1999 Freelander Alloys fit my 2001 Freelander if I use 5mm or 10mm spacers? and if so which size is best? 5mm or 10mm? I would fit a set of Alloys from a later Freelander but due to financial restrictions I just cant afford the prices most are advertised for. Please help Thanks
  15. Hi, I have a topic running called "Freelander Van" and it concerns my 5 Door TD4S Auto which has for the past 2 years been classed by my Insurance company (Churchill) as a Van when the Logbook clearly states it is an Estate. What I want to know is, has anyone else had the same problem and if so Why? Recently when I went to buy something for my Freelander on the internet, that search also said that my Estate is a Van. Any Ideas? And also, Is it more expensive to Insure a Van and if so Churchill must owe me money. Any answers would be appreciated. Cheers Dave
  16. Hi, Has anyone else had this problem? I am the owner of a 2000(X) reg Freelander TD4S Auto 5 door estate. Up until today, unbeknown to me, my Insurance company (Churchill) have been classing it, and charging me for insuring it as a VAN, even though the Registration document clearly states it is an Estate. What I want to know is. Is it cheaper or more expensive to Insurer a VAN? and if it is more expensive, then Churchill must owe me money. Has anyone else come up against this discrepancy with their TD4 S? Cheers Dave
  17. I"m really glad I started this forum because I"ve learnt things I knew nothing about. So what your really saying is: Don"t fit a Lift Kit for road use? If that"s the case: Has anyone any 16" or 17" Alloys For Sale that will fit my Freelander TD4 S which has the bigger brake calipers. Cheers
  18. Hi, I"m considering fitting a 40mm lift kit to my Freelander. Do these kits have a detrimental affect on the handling, steering etc when driven quickly on the road? I would fit 17" Alloys if I could afford them, but fitting these would surely affect top speed and economy? or would they? Why do I want a Lift Kit? because I like the way the new Freelanders are much higher off the ground giving better ground clearance and forward vision. Any advice would be welcome.
  19. Thanks everyone who answered. I"ve now sold the tyres Hissing Sid
  20. Thanks one and all for your replies Hissing sid
  21. Should my Freelander TD4 S Auto, first registered 29/11/2000, vin/chassis/frame numberSALLNABE11A588228 have a passenger Airbag? because all the ones I"ve seen have it clearly stamped "Airbag" near the passenger glove compartment, mine doesn"t. Any ideas please? Dave
  22. Thanks all for your replies, they were really helpful Dave
  23. Hi All, I recently bought a set of Freelander Alloys with Kumho MT Road Venture tyres fitted which are really good mud tyres. My question is? Would they be any good in Snow? I have a longish journey from the South up to the North of England to do in late December and don"t want to get caught in Snow. Any ideas please? Also, does anyone know where I could buy a Rubber type Nudge bar which has 2 spotlights fixed either side? I have seen one on a mark1 Freelander and it looked pretty cool. Again, any ideas? Cheers Dave
  24. Hi all. I recently purchased a set of 4 Alloys with Kumho Road Venture MT tyres from an ad in LR4X4, and am very pleased with my purchase. Rob, the chap who sold them to me was very genuine and the deal went without a hitch. My question is. Are these tyres road legal? and do they affect the handling and fuel consumption by using them on the road? I know they are quite noisey, but I can put up with that as most of my driving is short distance. Thanks Dave
