  1. Its been re-sprayed so not on the vin. Can you post a picture of yours so I can compare?
  2. So my 1988 110 has been resprayed at some point in its life. Its a metalic blue which I think might be 'monte carlo blue' Trouble is I am not 100% sure! What do people think?
  3. OK I had a look at the steering stops to see if they could be screwed in any more. There looks to be some extra room to the radius arm on full lock. But the bolts are screwed in as far as they will go. The thing is they are not threaded right to the end...... They look a bit like this one with a shoulder to the bolt: http://www.shop4autoparts.net/Defender/Axle-and-Suspension/Drive-Shafts,Hubs-&-Swivels/BOLT_STG._STOP.html Rather than this one: https://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/index.php/lambysettings/index/view/id/1144/ So what is the story - do you think I can swap to the other bolt and get a few extra turns? This is on a 1989 110 CSW.
  4. Thanks for the info guys - keep it coming. One thing I still cannot get my head around regarding offset. Does offset change the turning circle itself or does it just alter how much the lock can be adjusted. So if the lock was kept the same would a 22ET wolf wheel turn better than a 0ET modular or vise-versa?
  5. I am about to replace they tyres and rim on my 110 and want to improve the turning circle. I currently have 31X10.5X15 wheels on 8 spoke modular rims. I think the current rims have an offset of 0. So if I fit a narrower tyre I get a better turning circle right? My plan is to fit 235/85xR16. But what about the rims and the offset. Two choices: 16 x 6.5 Wolf rims with an offset of 22mm or 16 x 7 modular with an offset of 0mm. Now my understanding is the modular rims will sit wider due to the smaller offset. But does this help or hinder the turning circle? If the modular rims sit wider then I can adjust the lock stops more to give a better turning circle? Is that right?
  6. Thanks for help guys. I think the latest part numbers are MTC1714 and MTC1715. I see what you mean about the prices! http://www.lrdirect.com/MTC1714-Support-Seat/ http://www.lrdirect.com/MTC1715-Support-Seat/
  7. Ok - this might be the information I am missing. I was looking for a frame like on the outer seats that fits the centre seat. So the centre seat just has two non adjustable runners? Has someone got a link or part number?
  8. I have an ex-MOD 1990 110 V8 As I understand it the MOD land rovers have late style series seats fitted. I have two seats fitted in the cab but want to fit the middle seat. I can find the seat backs and bases: http://www.famousfour.co.uk/new_parts/ff_part?part=775 But not the frame that the middle seat fits on. Does anyone know the part number for the middle seat frame?
  9. Thanks guys - does anyone have link / part number for the middle row seat frame? I want to stick with the MOD / series seats rather than upgrading.
  10. So I have just acquired a 1990 110 V8. I want to replace the seat backs / bases in the cab as they are split / worn. It currently has two seats in the cab the drivers is adjustable, the passenger seat is attached to the bulkhead. The frames are fine it is just the backs / bases I need. Am I right in thinking I need series seat back / base like these one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-2-3-STANDARD-BLACK-VINYL-SEAT-BACK-/370530886379?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56455ca2eb http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-2-3-STANDARD-BLACK-VINYL-SEAT-BASE-/220778607044?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33676e31c4 I also want to fit a matching middle seat. Does anyone know what is required and which parts I need?
  11. Hmm. I guess that will teach me for believing what I read on the internet.
  12. Ok done a bit of research into 5 Airborne. They were based in the UK but could be deployed anywhere as a rapid reaction force. Apparently all their vehicles (land rover, scimitar, motor bikes) ran on petrol as they were airlifted in by hercules and then could refuel from the hercules wing tanks. Makes a lot of sense!
  13. Hi Paul That is very interesting - I wonder what role / theatre would required petrol? Hopefully if you can find the Parts Catalogue it might have some detail. Also hoping to close the deal on the 110 next week so should be able to supply photos / reg numbers etc.
  14. Thanks for the info. I will get some pictures / more info up once I have completed the deal. From my research there seems to be a batch of ex-mod 110's V8 from either 1989 or 1990. I wonder if the mod got a job lot from land rover!
  15. I need to replace the MAF on an 02 Freelander TD4. I am planning to replace with genuine Bosch. I know there are a lot of clones out there so am wary of ebay Can someone tell me is this looks like a genuine Bosch part? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150934312232
  16. I am thinking about buying an ex-mod V8 110 soft top which I have come across. I have not owned an ex-mod land rover before and am curious about its history. It is on a G plate but do I need to know its military registration before I can get the merlin report? Does anyone have any idea what role it might have performed in service? Were V8's used for different roles than the 2.5 N/A? Were there any V8 FFR? It has the square blocks on the wings but is 12v so I don't think it was FFR.
  17. Hi Mark. So is your TD5 yellow / yellow? My reason for going to the TD5 rear spring was my self leveler was broken so I had to fit stiffer springs. I could of gone for the the older hardtop spec spring but liked the idea of the TD5 progressive spring.
  18. Ok thanks guys. Still not sure if I should go with the normal or HD ones on the front. I don't have a winch or anything but quite like the idea of raising the front an inch or so. Will the ride be very harsh with the HD ones on?
  19. Hi All I have just put two TD5 rear springs on my 1988 110 CSW. I happy with the result so want to bring the front springs up to TD5 spec as well. Now the rear TD5 springs are not handed but the same both sides: RKB101111 What about the front springs on a TD5 110. Does someone have the part numbers? Are they handed? These are the part numbers for the older 110's: NRC8044 and NRC8045 (normal) NRC9448 and NRC9449 (HD) Cheers
  20. Hmm.. I had not really consider the dampers! My rear dampers where replaced last year by the garage. Looking at the invoice its says part no: STC3771 After doing so digging: STC3770 110 with self levelling suspension up to XA vin STC3771 110 with normal duty non self levelling suspension up to XA vin STC3772 110 with H/D suspension and 130 up to XA vin RPM100080 110 and 130 from XA vin Presumably the TD5 had RPM100080 and RKB101111 and no self leveling unit. But I now have RKB101111 + STC3771 + a broken self leveling unit. So this is where I get confused! Anyone know if this setup is OK or will I run into problems with the dampers?
  21. Hi All So I have now fitted 2 x RKB101111 on the back of my 1988 110 CSW. Results so far are good. Its a much better ride with less 'wallowing' in the corners. I have left my self leveler in place and it does not seem to be causing any problems. I have not tried towing with them yet but the look a lot firmer. One thing it has done is given the 110 about a 2" lift at the back. The old CSW models sat level but the hard tops and TD5 CSW are always higher at the back so this is to be expected. Only thing now is I want to replace the front spings! I don't have a winch or anything (yet) but might go with HD just to level out the 110. What about 2 x NRC9448 (D110 Front HD) or 2x NRC9462 (D90 HD rear progressive)? Does anyone know what normally goes on the front of a TD5 110 CSW?
  22. Hi I am in the same boat with my 1988 110 CSW. The self leveler is shot and sags with any load. I have ordered two of these to stick on the back: http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/10319/RKB101111-COIL-SPRING-ROAD-REAR-HD.html They are the progressive springs from the TD5 110. The were fitted to both the CSW and hard top. The TD5 CSW did not have a self leveler so hopefully they will do the job.
  23. Thanks guys. I am having problems getting hold of the FRC5806 Drive Member. I was after the OEM version made by AllMakes usually listed as FRC5806G. The trouble is everyones website claim they have it but actually they order from AllMakes who then tell them they will have no stock until 2012! Has anyone fitted another brand of driver member that has lasted well? What about these? http://mattsavage.com/acatalog/Drive_Flanges.html As I understand it they might wear my half shafts faster and will no longer be the weakest link in the drive train. Cheers
  24. Hi All I want to replace the Drive Members front and back on my 1988 110 CSW. Can someone check the parts numbers for me? x4 FRC5806 Drive Member x4 FRC3988 Gasket x4 FRC4377 Dust Cap (Leaking oil so might as well replace) x20 FC110107L Drive Member Bolt x20 WL110001L Bolt Spring If I order that lot should I be ok? The one that looks a bit odd is the bolts (FC110107L): http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/13761/AFU1181-FLANGED-HEAD-BOLT-M10-x-50.html Looking at the ones currently on my 110 they do not have a flanged head. Does that matter? Also I have heard there is a 'thick' gasket FRC3988? If I go genuine will I be ok? http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/6408/FRC3988-AXLE-DRIVE-MEMBER-GASKET.html Cheers
