  1. I have a 4lt V8 on LPG I tow 3.5t at least a few times a month and its good as gold I know a 4.6 is better but uses a little more fuel.I was a massive sceptic but not a convert and my next car will be a V8D3 and I will convert that as wellBECM's can be reconed for £200 if you have a good fitter or machanic that knows P38's there good as gold..If it has 18" rims change them for 16" or 19" as they drive much better for some bazar reason.I have done 35k in the last 14months in mine and after a few issues early on its been fine.

  2. I fitted a lift and its 50mm from new so if your springs are shagged they will lift it by more.I lifted a LSE 50mm spring and 50mm body then you can fit up to 35" tyres without them foulng the plastic eyebrow areches.I wouldn't bother with LR wheels as the steering lock will be carp the bigger the tires and spacers are more expensing then a set of mod rims.

  3. I could be wrong but some parts of the Middle East, right hand drive cars are not allowed across the boarders, Saudi being at least one.also all the racing we do out in the UAE ive never seen a right hand drive car even the english ones are left hand drive.Julian

  4. I have done RRC alloys in the past but not for meany years.

I only rubbed them down with assorted levels of grit and filled them then spray them with a air gun I find thats the easiest, quickes and cheapest way if you going to off road them again anyway. like spraying a panel or somthing used good quality paint and laquer and the work is in the prep.

I never realy mastered the two tone alloys when I was never happy with them my mates were always chuffed when I did theres for them.

I didn't bother grit blasting them as alloy is so soft I always thought it would do more damage then good.

I'm no expert I just couldn't afford to have them profesionaly made good so did it myself we are going back a good fifteen years so as with most thinngs it was more trial and error..

  5. They do a really cool 4' one which is the most powerfull and the equivilant of about 6 big topspec spots but it only draws somthing like silly 8w..

I wanted the big 4' one for the 110 as it's great for lighting and with zero wind drag and much less chance of treshing against trees but at $1500 lits a ittle more than I was planning to spend.

    Still cool

  6. The main thug is even if I get time to do it, it's too big for the lounge. Also the glass takes two people to lift it's structural glass at least that would put a stop to me worrying about my dog standing on this one.

  7. The two engine have been sat in my garden for ten years so need a clean up and pistons removing and honing the boars will clean them up. The glass is a price of structural glass and is too big for just one engine to support. The glass also has two drill hole in and a 150 shamfered corner which I'm not sure if much can be done about.

  8. I have been accumulating bits to build a V8 coffee table an have lost intrest

I have a sheet of glass about 20mm thick 1200x1600 ish and two old V8's

SWMBO is not keen and wants me to sell it any thoughts

    Any thoughts people

  9. As a van driver (yes it's White and yes I'm a builder, but it's not mIne it's a company vehicle) lorrys and other vans flash their lights to let you know your past them and are safe to pull in and there's no need to stay in the outside lane holding the rest of the world up, I appreciate this when I'm in the van as it can be a great help, transits like landys are not the fastest mode of transport, I also appreciate it when I'm in my car and someone in a van/lorry gets flashed in so they get out of my way! Lol. It's also courteous to then indicate right then left to thank the flasher for flashing you in.

I drive a RR as my road car and do about 30k per year, I'm also a builder so travel before rush hour at 6 -7am and 4.30-5.30pm cars and vans traveling do travel fast at this time in the morning its particularly noticeable that its Vans and big executive cars primarily on the roads and yes I flash people in and out, but I also flash at people I feel are arrogantly hogging the outside or middle lane. Am I alone in thinking the most dangerous are those that don’t know the motorway cars speed limit is 70mph not 50 which forces HGV to take risks trying to pass these very dangerous drivers if you don’t want to keep up with the flow of car traffic than match the HGV’s don’t force 40t HGV’s to take risks with other road users lives trying to pass .

What does infuriate me is people that don’t acknowledge your obvious efforts to give way to them when you don’t have to I mean it’s old a simple wave or hazard flash.

Audi, merc and BMW drivers are a pain but also it’s a fair bet all they want if to overtake even if your doing 90+ so at least you know where you stand.. lack of indication is a pain I have a mate who drive a transit connect for work and a TVR as a toy and he ridicules my other mate that’s a BMW/ Audi nut about the comments are hilarious

  10. I had a great day all round.

took food with so tea, bacon rolls and burgers all cooked by SWMBO on the tailgate

I got some spare boots for the racer and a spare set of 19's for the rangy and some other bits and bobs I was chuffed with

Sold loads of stuff and the trailer was lighter on the way home which was nice for a change.

It was nice to catch up with lots of old friends

  11. Nige,

Is your radiator alloy or copper ?, Allisport quote 20% more efficiency/cooling effect over a standard coper and do custom sizes worth a phonecall !

I spent a day calling them and being told the phone was off and should send a Tex and that got rejected so I'm a tad miffed at there service, I spoke to JE as they sold me my last big intercooler a few years ago and they gave me the number of a small rad firm who have agreed to build to my exact spec and some of there advise as well including the structural add on's I needed to fit within my spacframe. The TMC's 5.3 V8 is a little quick to warm up and when running is predominantly flat out anywhere between 2k and 6k as it's on a 3sp gear box so its held in gear a lot longer than normal 5 & 6 speeds are under race conditions.

You need capacity and air flow. I was thinking of going Ally but the thought of if a stone goes thought it and it then being scrap did put me off a fair bit. Weight is pointless as your filling it with water, and I'm not worried about a shinny engine bay. So I went with a old fashioned rad which if I damage racing I can braze up to keep me going.

So there phone being switched off also saved me at least £300 and my new rad arrives next week.
