  1. post-312-1231853167_thumb.jpg

The far one in this pic is what I'm looking for

The reason was not for off road ability how ever the ability on a wet frield would be very handy the main thing was towing capasity as most campers can only tow 2t but even then loads only have a 1t towing capasity were as a LR based large camper like the 6x6 in the pic will have a 3.5t towing capasity meaning I don't have to worry about being pulled and running over weight.

the bolt on to a defender type things when your used to a proper camper are very small when with dogs you need floor space.

but I did post the post some time ago but I don't have the funds at the moment to have a nother camper for a while..

  2. Glade to hear your relativly ok after seeing the car.

A mate in Bournmouth has a Disco 1 for sale I don't know if its 200 or 300 but it will be ok to get you back on the road.

  3. Dave

Pete mentioned that there could be a Bovington event running do you know who was running it or is a possible scor comp.

Talking to Gary Chick he is up for it as long as he can get some Fox's in time

Talking to Gary Weldon just after christmas he is hoping to compete in his new bowler tomcat but you know Gary

  4. I changed the gearing on my 4.2 auto Classic which had 35's on for Kam R&P 4.7's which is what I had from a previous car.

It was a little low gearing and if I had a chocie I would have gone for 4.1.

I did have twin ARB's and although I never realy needed to push it hard I didn't brake anything but auto's are softer on drive line parts.

  5. My wife's HSE had got a standard Hardon Kardon system amps and subs etc.

She wants to connect her Ipod touch to the stereo but we don't want to use the radio link as there a bit kak.

The original stereo has a shot screen so I was planning to replace it with a Sony I have spare which has a MP3/ aux link.

I know that the steering controls will no longer work not that they do at the moment

Is there a way that I can get the stereo to run the original amps the car already has

  6. As those you you who know me I have sold my big toy LSE and back with a completely standard Range rover classic as the Racer is far from practical for club play days and the daily driver always seams to suffer some form of expensive sensor failure every time it goes to a club day. I turned up to the last club day at slab common for Dave birthday bash and collected the key from the MOD (I'm the licence holder so for Shire events) got to the site walked to dogs quickly and met everyone else arriving to set up the day for the club day. etc. etc..

After chatting to lots of people and thinking to my self why did I bother fitting a old set of tyres off one of the racers (225 MTR's) to play on as its not going to get anywhere.

Well my plan was not to trash the car as I don't see the point or how that can even be fun but that's me and try to have a bit of fun while driving round. The Range Rover classic with its Air springs and its a old overfinch so it sits very low even on off road setting but off I went and could I get it stuck (remembering its a range rover I didn't go near the water) I went playing in the tank ruts and some of the softer wetter areas it even got across the tank crossings it took a few goes as the tow bar or plough was doing its best to stop me. I followed most of the larger trucks when things quietened down not wanting to be laughed at too much ;) .

My conclusion was I didn't get stuck but had to think about every obstacle as I drove them and the stock classic with its dainty little mud tyres did really well even it front spoiler although full of sand stayed fully intact. The only damage was from a 109 I tried to recover his rope snapped and the shackle hit my lower tail gate denting it but it could have been worse.

I suppose I enjoyed it so much because with the old LSE all I needed to to was point and it would go though nearly anything it could fit into and the challenge truck before was the same but having to think and plan things a little more made it so much more fun to drive in a stock truck

  7. What like seeing it posted on Pirate I guess the whole world can't see that Jules DOH!

and just for your information as you appear to have missed it

I am not a moderator here at all.

    I am the treasurer only.

Are you now off to Pirate to berate everyone on there or save your outburst at me for here alone?

Perhaps I should run everything by you in future just to check it is ok?

This is a forum and I will like everyone post up questions/topic as I see fit as long as they are within the rules of the forum.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS this is the direct quote from Pirate:

The arms were made by QT. Turns out that the fully drilled arms were made as display samples. Somehow this set ended up on a truck. The vendor that sold them has since gone out of business.

Dave Marsh at QT has been more than helpfull in correcting this issue and supplying new arms.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then went on to say:

Agreed if it is a post production issue then warranty replacements should be made available?

Then this in response to your post:

If there is a limit to the usage of these then they should be sold as such, Mine were sold to me by Dave at Billing,

If they are inherently a design problem that he is aware of then I'll see what sort reply I get.

If they were to fail on the road and an accident ensued, the goods fit for the purpose surely comes to mind.

Mine are to date ok, but I would not like to see a failure as above.

    I hadn't seen the link

but ho hum I'm wrong again my apologies

  8. Jules they aren't standard items though.

Tims have failed the pictured ones above have failed.

In this instance are they only safe when fitted to a car that doesn't venture offroad?

No they are being sold by a company that sells comp safari stuff, I would except them to be up to the task at hand

Or am I expecting to much?

Set have failed on competition as do any parts when pushed hard as nothing is indestructible

No not at all but shouting about it on a forum before talking to Dave and more importantly while his company is on Christmas holiday the the whole thread can gather ill informed momentum is very unfair and totally outrageous for a moderator to abuse his position like this

  9. If there is a limit to the usage of these then they should be sold as such, Mine were sold to me by Dave at Billing,

If they are inherently a bad design then I'll see what reply I get.

If they were to fail on the road and an accident ensued, the goods fit for the purpose surely comes to mind.

Mine are to date ok, but I would not like to see a failure as above.

Find me a set that have failed on a standard car on or off the road

    IMHO

I have torn spring hangers off chassis and ripped the hockey stick mount off chassis as well but I don't complain to Land Rover because I know I'm pushing the car beyond the bounds of its design but there is no warning from Land Rover is there about if you compete with this car it will suffer catastrophic chassis fracturing and component failure.

  10. Already have it lined up on Sky+ :)

From experience over watching it for the last ten years or so on eurosport time tables are carp so extend your recording settings on the Sky + box by as long as you can but I missed some of last nights show because I only set ten mins extra on recordings
