  1. It was the side windows, I might have put brackets on wrong way round, as I found that the easiest way of fitting brackets as they wouldn't fit the way round that they were meant to go, for whatever reason. The vehicle is a factory fitted station wagon, so is not a case that it's been modified with wrong parts. I did find that I had to drill new holes for mounts at bottom as there was only one excisting place to bolt the bracket and that didn't line up either. I still have to do the right hand window yet so maybe that will work out better,
  2. I've just fitted a set of mobile storage systems internal window guards to my 1994 CSW defender. Did anyone else have trouble fitting them as I have had to cut the facia paneling which goes around the window, I had to cut the paneling where the window guards are bolted to allow paneling to get flush with body work.
  3. On my defender the Megane seats are bolted to the original seat frames, my original seat frames have that u channel already on them,
  4. I have movement in my right hand front hub, I originally thought it was bearing and have tightened this up, this got rid of 12-6 movement, but I still have movement 9-3 (side to side) there is no movement in track rod ends or steering drop arm, Can any body through any light on this, am thinking about changing bearings to see if this helps, although if it's tight 12-6 shouldn't it be ok 3-9?
  5. Ok, that's cleared it up, thank you.
  6. Unbolt along top side, you'll find bolts along roof where roof meets side panels, and then unbolt at base, both ends and rear corner, three bolts in total at bottom, then slide sides out whilst supporting roof, and then slide new sides with windows in
  7. Jack up one front wheel of 110, and I can turn wheel and front prop whilst handbrake is on and in low/high ratio, is this ok, or is it a transfer box fault.
  8. Been offered a early 110 transfer box that was original fitted to a lt77, and when removed had only covered 67000 miles. I will renew gaskets, and check bearings etc. Many thanks for the info guys,
  9. Would a transfer box that was original fitted to a LT77 fit an R380
  10. When replacing a defender transfer box, what other parts would be best to change, Cross drilled transfer box gear?
  11. Would be easier just to get a second hand pair of sides with windows per fitted,
  12. Can't decide wether to upgrade my standard defender transfer box to one out of a discovery, I currently run on BFG 265/75 Looking at info on the web, it seems like you only get benefit if you are running on standard tyres, as some people reckon that the larger tyres are similar to the gearing ratios that I'd expect to achieve, I currently do about 400+ miles per week, on road. What are your thoughts on it,
  13. Can you give me the length of them please. are they the two or three seater ones?
  14. Thinking of getting a p38, range rover but need to know weather a sankey widetrackTrailer can be towed behind it. Currently have a defender 110, but dont know if the p38 towing height can be/is the same as the defender
  15. Will the door locks work if i can get 12v to the startermotor connection.
  16. I have a 2000 yr freelander 1.8, The battery is flat, i cannot access the vehicle from the boot door as the lock wont work with the key, and neither will the lock work via drivers door, Any ideas as to how i can access the freelander to open the bonnet.
  17. Ok, It seems like the problem has gone now, somehow, both front wheels will rotate now regardless of whether the opposite one is on the ground. it doesnt matter if you are in neutral or low/high ratio.
  18. I know what you mean GBmud, but both wheels operate differently as my posting states, Cwazywabbit will get back to u soon.
  19. When i jack up the offside front on my defender 300tdi 110, i cannot turn the wheel manually, it is trying to turn front prop, but as the nrside wheel is on the ground it wont allow any movement, but i can if i engage neutral on the transfer box, or jack up both front wheels i can move them freely, one going forward, one going backwards. This i believe is quite normal, This is now where i think it gets weird, If i jack up the Nr side wheel, with the offside on the ground, i can manually turn the wheel, thus turning front prop, this is with the transfer box lever in high/low ratio or neutral. The half shalfts are all ok. Am i going crazy or is this how it is meant to be, I thought each front wheel should only turn if the oppisite front one was in the air.
  20. Need to remove the drop arm on my defender 110, have tried a two legged puller, but have failed, has anyone local to gravesend in kent got a better type of puller, or any ideas in removing it.
  21. I agree with stable matting, i have these thoughout my station wagon 110, i have the 18mm with ridges underneath to let the water escape, and excellent soudproofing.
  22. Just changed my starter motor as it had the same fault, but first check that you have a good earth contact, (remove earth lead from chassis and clean up where it bolts to chassis), as this can cause the starter motor to click, also worth putting a second earth lead from chassis to engine, Mine was bolted: battery to chassis and and then onto gearbox, and earth contact was still poor, untill i out another earth from chassis to starter motor bolts,
  23. I have a leak from the throttle linkage where it sits on top of the injector pump, the 110 has the 300tdi engine 1994, is this a easy repair, if so what do i need and how do i go about it, hopefully this is something i can do myself.
