  1. For what it's worth, I drilled mine with a solid carbide split point 3/8" drill bit on a benchtop mill. Feed in slowly and use some cutting fluid. The gear has to be clamped in pretty securely when using solid carbide as they don't like chatter or bending much. I ended up putting 4 holes in (edit: the whole job took about 20 minutes including set up time). RT

  6. Welding visors have a shade rating. You have to pick the right shade depending to welding current and mode as well as how close your eyes are from the work. When welding, you should be able to see the molten metal and weld forming. This should not be a white flash where you can't comfortably see detail. I keep three different shades on hand for different situations. Richard

  8. This is a topic of interest to me as well. I presume the transfer box in question is the LT230? I have just acquired an ex-MoD 90 that also exhibits play in the front output flange. An in-situ fix sounds appealing. Richard
