Thanks for all of the replies, I have been away from the computer for a couple of days. Dont want you all thinking I'm a rude git ignoring the advice. I've fitted one of those EGR blanking plates. Not noticed any differance so far but I'm sure it will help the engine breathe in fresher air.

Hi to you all again. Whilst nosing around under the bonnet of my Disco I noticed that the EGR valve wiring plug is missing and the thin vacuum hose disappears away towards the air filter and the front of the car. Is this some sort of modification?. I ask because it looks nothing like the diagram in the Haynes manual. Should I be concerned or has the previous owner done it for a reason. All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I own a 96 300tdi Would someone please tell me what this is? I found it on top of the engine block when I took the rubber cover off. The tube leading to the connector has a crack in it. Do I need to replace it. What does it do?

Hi everyone, I've just bought my first Disco and so far,so good. However there is a switch on the instrument panel that is not described or explained in the handbook. It has the symbol of a motorway on it. There are also two switches on the steering wheel. One for set/acc the other for reset/deacc. I take it is some form of cruise control. How do you use it? Can anybody help me. Thanks.
