  1. About more-years-ago-than-I-care-to-remember I worked it out. If you follow this diagram carefully, all is revealed.......
  2. These things are a straight swap for the standard fixed-interval relay on Defenders - they really are a neat improvement. There's a guy selling them on ebay, here, he's not describing them very well so no-one's bidding. I've had a couple myself which I've stashed away (yes, I really do intend to get out more), but he seems to have a continuing supply. Worth a look.
  3. Those timer thingies are important. Leaving the screen switched on for longish periods by mistake results in the elements breaking and the screen only clearing in a pattern of foggy stripes (the biggest one of which always seems to end up right in the driver's line of sight). The wife's 90 is now due a replacement due to this and I shall re-arrange the wiring with a timer relay from a Range Rover (PRC 6796) to try & extend the life of the next one. Despite this niggle they really are a worthwhile addition and I wouldn't have a 90 without one.
  4. The LED version of the "NAS" lamp is available from Premier Wiring
  5. A heated screen expert I spoke to recently (about custom-made screens for a different vehicle entirely) said that splitting the elements into two sections like this enabled a faster warm-up. However - it came with a warning, in that heated screens - especially of this type - should be wired thru a timer relay so that they are turned off automatically after a short period. If they're not, and are left switched on for extended periods, the elements start to break as they effectively over-heat. This echoes my own experiences in the 90, where I gradually get more and more foggy stripes on the screen that either take a long time to clear or don't clear at all. I'm now on my second screen - needless to say despite best intentions it tends to get left on constantly at this time of year. I'll shortly be exploring the warranty situation (bought from main dealer, but installed myself), though I haven't found a suitable timer relay yet. Anybody got any ideas, pls let me know!
  6. bathtub, who is the manufacturer you found? I'm currently involved in sourcing some custom made heated screens (not for LR), I would like to make sure I've covered all the bases: so far, Uroglas Ricky Evans Motorsport (www.heatedwindscreen.com) .....and a manufacturer in Finland I've only just found out about. Anybody different?
  7. Don't forget............... Freight cost (post?) Duty, prob 10% on "landed cost of goods", ie cost + freight VAT on everything (yes, a tax on a tax) .........it will probably be at about £185 by the time you get your hands on it.
  8. The new LED version of the NAS lamp is now available from Premier Wiring. Unfortunately, cheap they are not, but they are the business.........I think I have just about persuaded myself that a complete set is an absolute necessity.
  9. Bosch make a replacement relay with a variable interval, anything from 2 to 45 secs. No wiring or switchgear changes, literally plug & play. Have them both F & R on the 90 (R with 10min wiring mod and original switch). They really are worthwhile, strongly recommended. Bosch p/n is 0 986 335 058, available from Bosch distributors or motor factors, about £14 if I remember rightly.
  10. VW Beetle front indicators? Indicators Stick the sidelights in the headlights?
