  1. Ok, some photos done... I apologise for the torn mudflaps, did some heavy duty offroad work a couple of weeks ago (that's where the recent damage to the nearside slider happened, a couple of rocks hidden in some long grass over a deep hole!😲)
  2. Mine are quite different, combo tree/rock slider and steps. They work very hard and have protected me quite a few times... I'll work out how to get some photos on here for you
  3. Hi Guys Years from the OP, but I too have one of these tanks. Never had a leak, nor a moment of concern. I have had my 110 in some very tight corners. Last year setting the LWB courses for our Zim Jamboree I managed to slide hard on the RR mudflap, which bent the bracket backwards slightly, initiating a racy angle into the flap itself, but no problems with the tank. (Sadly the photo I tried to post was rejected) I have resisted the temptation to try and bend it straight!! I generally run the Jamboree with a full tank, all my bits and pieces on board, as well as all the stuff necessary for the event. The LWB courses are not turning circle tests, but are really there for day to day challenges that could reasonably be expected on an expedition, for normal RTV's Ciao for now Steve
  4. Thanks for the input, she is now in comms with RHT and seems to be connecting with enthusiasts who can assist in sorting out the diamonds from the zirconias.
  5. Great reading. I have a 1972 SIII 88 SW which I bought in the UK in the late 80's whilst living there. Mellie became part of our lives, and I brought her back to Zim when we returned. We have now owned her for 25 years, and I'm going to give her an extensive facelift this year to celebrate this fact. She will become a fun machine, sometime bush crawler etc. I have an opportunity now to purchase a 1990 Disco 200Tdi, which gearbox has collapsed, and is a bit tatty elsewhere. As I have long hankered to put the 200 Tdi engine into my SIII, it seems like a golden opportunity. What else will I need to be aware of in doing this, as parts for the conversion will all have to be fabricated locally here. Would items like the PAS etc be readily used for conversion, or even doing the disc brake conversion. Obviously, if I cannibalise the Disco, I want to use as much of it as possible. Thanks for the benefit of your experience
  6. Thanks for all the replies. Seems to be a number of Disco IIs around, as well as a few RR Classics. She's been driving Disco's for years, so other than the LHD vs RHD issue issue, no problem there. Really hoping to contact someone who can help with assessing the options, and getting a sound vehicle.
  7. Hello Folks, I am needing some assistance from the forum members. My youngest daughter has recently married, and has moved to California from Zimbabwe. She is now getting to a place where she needs to buy her own car, and having been in Landies all her life, is obviously looking this way first. Is there anyone out there who can help with making contact with a local group of enthusiasts she can connect with, who can help us with this pursuit. many thanks
