  1. One of the best uses for cheqer IMHO has to be the floor pans, especially if you get in with mud on ya boots regular Regards,Mick
  2. Though i don't understand the reason why,my pas box popped the seal and started leaking when i turned the wheel without the pump running. It then settled down and stopped leaking for a few months but eventually started leaking again.I bought a seal kit from my local independant man (the landy is a 1990TD with a 6 bolt box on).The main seal to change is the shaft seal on the shaft for the drop arm ,i changed some others as well but not all as its like a Swiss watch inside these things. That was about 18 months ago and touch wood it has been ok since,i did'nt have a manual so just muddled my way through, the hardest bit was getting the bl***y drop arm off. Cheers,Mick.
  3. Sean, sorry mate we must have posted at the same time, the cable is only a month old so i assumed (probobly wrongly) that it was ok.I've already checked the speedo and the cable at that end and its all ok.When i get started tomorrow ill check if it turns first before i do owt else.If the nylon gear is as reliable as you say the job may not be as long as i think(fingers crossed) Cheers,Mick.
  4. Ralph,as always,Cheers mate. Hav'nt had time today,doin it tomorra, Mick.
  5. Evening everyone, does anyone know if the small gear in the transfer box which drives the speedo is replacable?I've took the prop off and the transmission brake assembly and tomorrow i'll take the drive flange housing and back drive shaft assembly out.I assume that i'll find a broken or stripped speedo drive gear,so,if i do,are they obtainable. If all else fails i'll give Ashcrofts a bell but has anyone done the job before? Cheers,Mick.
  6. Or possibly try the pump tweaking described on a post on here(aq search should find it)i just did the first part of it(turning the diaphragm 90 degrees) and it made a hell of a differance, great bottom end as well. On the other hand it could just be a knackered intercooler hose..... Regards,Mick.
  7. Luckymiserableluckyoldluckygit more like Seriously though, that is one great looking vehicle,i'm as envious as owt, enjoy,Mick.
  8. Jon, i did what Kevin said as well, the turbo pipe of my old TD engine and an old K&N (of an old beach buggy project of my mates)in th passanger side inner wing. Anyway, best of luck with the rest of your conversion, its the best mod i ever did....Mick.
  9. Thanks for the opinions and links men, mind made up now, will save my money for other more worthy causes, Thanks again,Mick.
  10. Evening everyone, has anyone got experience of the Zeus timing gear conversion,i was going to get in touch with them to find out a price for a 200TDI but wanted any opinions first in case they're not all they're cracked up to be.Any opinions gratefully (as always) recieved, Regards,Mick.
  11. Valerie...... Blame the bairn.... Thats my excuse and i'm sticking with it Mick.
  12. Hello mate, put it in a vice with the bush facing upwards(don't grip it where the bearing fits)use a centre punch or a small tap to mark a start spot for drilling midway between the inner and outer diameter. Then drill down through the bush with a drill as near to the size of the flat surface as tou can get.Only go down as far as the bottom of the bush till it hits the steel below. What you have now is a weak point in the bush so ,now, use a hammer and punch to hit the bush towards the centre,(hit it just to the side of the drilled hole). The bush should collapse inwards and lever out easily Hope this has been of some help,Mick.
  13. Thanks for the quick replies people, its happening under light load when just cruising along a leval road. Its unlikly the brakes, all done reasonably recently and working perfect. The fact that its not under load may rule out the trailing arm holes but i'll check them anyway. I need to do the rear pinion seal soon so i'll check the bolt then, The rear hubs are long overdue a strip down so i'll check the drive flanges then as well. Thanks again,Mick.
  14. Hello all,First post after joining a couple of months ago (and reading and getting advice for a long time),i would appreciate some opinions on this problem.Every so often i hear a loud click from the rear axle area when driving .The best way to describe it is like a small stone hitting it hard(like from a catapult) and its definitly from the rear of the vehicle. The prop seems ok so any ideas what it could be?,its a 1990 90 Hard Top TD if this is relevant, Cheers,Mick.
