Hello the other annoying thing that came from my trip to the cape of Fraser island was a squeak, coming so I thought from the alternator,
I've had a very carful listen and its quite hard but I'm 75% sure its coming from the water pump! I jumped to the conclusion that it was the alternator because I changed all the belt tensioner bearing the other month and the water pump has been changed because the bearing was squeaking 2 years ago, the receipt says 24/05/10! surely they should last longer than 2 years!!
after spraying CRC on the back of the pulley it stopped the squeak, can u change the bearing without taking the pump off?
Cheers ted.

Hey how do you tell if your radius arm bushes have gone without taking them off?
-
Is it generally clicking when your are turning sharply, especially in difflock? I had something similar and it turned out I had blown a CV joint.
I did think CV's but it does it on the straight ahead as well as when turning. with or with out difflock on

Hello all,
I've just got back from a trip to the cape of Fraser island, which was great other than a couple of things while going over some very bad terrain bad articulation a bad metallic click appeared, driving on flat ground there's no click but soon as you drive over any obstacle there quite a loud click several time depending on the intensity of the terrain, I had a similar click a while after replacing the radius arm bushes that ended up being a loose bolt on them, they are tight as at the moment so its not them!! any ideas?
Cheers ted

So could be a problem with over heating, not heard this off anyone else but thats what I want all the info i can, so thanks. I plan to put intercooler in myself and get the local Landrover expert to tune the fuel pump so will mention this to them. I really need more power to get me out of soft sand ruts that kill my power at the moment, I'm going fraser island in May so need as much power as is reasonable with the set up I'm running, traveling with a couple of cars namely a souped up Landcruiser and a standard Nissan Patrol, both with heaps more power that my donk!!
Cheers ted

Thanks for all the input. I have air con so the full size IC isn't an option. but the double size(100% IC that allisport do sounds good but how much grinding/pipe moving do I have to do? tempted to just go with the "standard!" 50% upgrade! what do u think?

It also might be all the salt the council put on the road! Sorry not smug at all, just can't believe the condition of the 1996 110 that I bought in Brisbane, hardly any rust to speak of other than in the usual footwell places! You watch it'll now fall to pieces!!!!!!!!!!

hello, has anyone done the AlliSport intercooler upgrade for the 300 tdi? I'm thinking of doing it, but want to know if it's worth while or a case of the emperors new clothes! Also are the instructions for tuning the fuel pump as straight forward as Allisport say they are?
Thanks ted..

hi all similar topic, the Allisport 300tdi intercooler it says that some adaptation of the housing may be required. Anyone know what is required? I thought it was a straight swop!! Cheers ted

Thanx, anyone had problems with air pockets and getting rid of them?

Hello, I'm trying to track down a new set off water hoses for a300tdi defender 1996, I,m finding it hard to get genuine and have been offered the bottom hose with the three separate bits linked together with what looks like jubilee clips! Are these the new genuine hoses??

Hi all.
Got a quick question about my clutch, it OK (1996 300tdi)so I believe, but the truck has done 180.000 klm's and I've been told that it would be due a new clutch, normally I would let symptoms make themselves aware before doing anything but I've a trip to Fraser island coming up ( check it out Fraser Island Qld Australia ) and for obvious reasons don't want any break downs due to what should have been done rather that things breaking! What would you suggest?

Thanks. Thought so......

hi all, just wondering if the Td5 bar type steering guard would fit on a 1996 Defender 300Tdi
Cheers ted.....

I had similar on mine, thought all of the above almost took it the garage, then when pushing and pulling up and down on the bull bar i heard it and tracked it down to the bolts through the radius arm bushes not being tight!!
Hope this helps............

I have used the Lucas stop leak, to be honest I didn't think it work, but it has dried the box up and there's only a very slight sign of any fluid leaking now! Although I now only use the defender at weekends and towing the boat, where as before it was the daily drive, not sure if that would make too much difference though as it would still leak when used! Very pleased for now anyway!

Well! took decals off, bit sad really, I was left with very shiny paint work where stickers were, as was said! so off i went with T'cut and buffer, seemed Ok but in certain light, until it went dark you could blatantly see where they had been, also it seemed yellowed where the Defender decal had been!! So T'cut T'cut T'cut!! Oh! and some Beer!!
Thanks for tip on heat gun! Still got sore finger though!!
