  1. hello, i am considering transplanting a v8 into my 1991 3dr 110 200 tdi defender... first and foremost, which v8 engine is going to give maximum grunt in standard form ? do i need a conversion plate to connect to the lt77s gearbox ? is the standard gearbox ok to use with the v8 ? etc etc .... alternativly, has anybody got a v8 90 who wishes to swap for my 110 !
  2. hello, i am sorting out the ariel system on my defender, and wanted to know what the ally tuning ring does thats fitted to the rubber mount, the ring sits between the rubber ariel mount and the top of the ATU box. its a racal " base, antenna element mk 3 " if it helps and has some sort of tuned circuit in the base. i am intending to fit a cb radio, and wanted to use the military ariels, the problem i am having seems to be related to a poor groundplane when i fit it to the side arm. i have an earlier rubber mount on a side arm, and it dosnt have a tuning ring, but it also connects the coax differantly any ideas ? cheers...
  3. hello, providing the voltage isnt a problem, however as i dont have the lead to connect the ATU to a power supply, i still need the pinouts to power the ATU up ( so i dont fry any circuits ) anybody got a power lead or can confirm which pinouts do what ? cheers...
  4. hello, ..to see if it works I would assume that they can be tested on the bench etc without being connected to a full radio setup and thought there maybe a way to provide 24v supply, using either two 12v batteries or a converter etc. the hunt for a solution goes on cheers...
  5. hello, Has anybody got any of these securing plates ? MRC 9423 +MTC 4049 I am assuming they are galvanised, so that the metal plate ( MTC 5081 ) dosnt react with the ally sides of the landrover cheers...
  6. hello, i wish to power up my Racal 543 ATU, however it takes its supply from a 24volt radio, but my defender is a 12 volt system,as is my radio..any body got any wiring diagrams/pinouts etc or workable solutions for these ATU's. Cheers...
  7. evening, your camera has a macro mode, which will enable you to get very close to the subject material, from checking the specs :Min Focus Range: 50 cm - Macro Focus Range: 10-80cm if the flash is being used, standard batteries never last long, and re-chargeable batteries will last far longer. tripods will almost elimate blurry pictures, it may have to close to focus, if you wernt in macro mode. hope this helps. Cheers...
  8. evening, i also drive and maintain various coaches, volvo b10ms mainly, as well as a couple of dafs, and are all fitted with brake exhausts, and i also find them very useful, generally for steep downhill gradients, but you obviously need to be in a low gear to get the rpm up, then select the ex brake, very effective, dont know what effect they would have in a 2.25 landy, i know my defender comes slows down considerably, just by letting of the throttle. i wouldnt think it would take to much effort to graft one onto a landy..best bet is to ask at your local coach depot, and have a good look at them. cheers...
  9. i bought some 2 inch closed cell insulation,(from a diy store) stuck it to the inside of the door bottom, bought a sheet of 2mm ally, (from a steel stockists) cut/fit and rivetted it to all 3 doors, it was non chequer plate, is i dont need any grip on the inside of a door panel, then applied the militarys finest paint ! cheers...
  10. evening, try the following link, there seems to be any amount of differant configurations, depending on your needs, laptops, gps, phones, etc i bought a mount for my garmin e-trex, very sturdy and can be angled pretty much where you need it. http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ cheers...
  11. evening, the "safe speed " will be dictated by the load/road/weather conditions etc maybe a post in the international section will yeild an answer from a more experienced towing type person ? cheers...
  12. evening, without digging out the sankey manual, i think the military recommended a top speed of 45 mph, but thats not to say you cant tow one at the legal towing speed limit of the country you are in. towing isnt about how fast you can go, more, what happens if you need to brake quickly, road surfaces, side winds, load stability etc, safety should be paramount, for yourself, and other road users. cheers...
  13. evening, looks like i am missing a good 10 mm from my vent panel ! i have looked at hundreds of airportable pics, but most are all botled together, so its not easy to gauge profiles etc, an ideal situation would be a complete picture of just a vent panel from various angles. thank you for taking the time to measure your vent panel for me, i can at least now get started on making a new one. cheers...
  14. evening, i use tyre levers to change the tyres on the coaches we have at work, its quite easy once you have done a couple, mind you, its just as well they last for years ! the trye levers are about 3 ft long ! I put my 235's tyres on disco rims without any problems, just used liberal amounts of duck oil. cheers...
  15. evening, just wondering if you could go outside and measure the vent panel depth B)
