  1. why not take an existing one out, see if an m8 nut will screw onto it, if it will then it will be easy to get hold of one!
  2. i removed them from my 90. i off road it and can only think they'd trap mud and rubbish against the disc, id much rather it be open so all the rubbish doesnt get caught. and really, how much protection is it going to give, its not very sturdy.
  3. yes try it and they'll fit, it will save you loads of unnecessary work! the picture sort of shows how i did it. i cut away a section of the bit that squishes to the size of the striker. then i cut away the inner side of the U shape grip part of the seal. the side of the U shape that faces into the cab. the picture isnt particularly clear but you get the idea
  4. no you do not need to cut the return off!! i didnt cut the return off when i fitted one piece seals to my 2a and they are still fitted fine - that was 3 years ago!! if anything, the return holds the seal on even better!!
  5. from what ive seen on landyzone, your axles are just standard rover items, but have been changed from 10 spline to 24 spline- is that correct? if so, changing from 10 spline axles to 24 spline axles is not enough of a change to lose points - they are still direct replacements for the originals. if i was you i wouldnt worry about the axles! also your suspension, what of it has actually changed? is it just lifted, if so that isnt enough of a change to lose points i didnt think, youve only used replacement items for the original parts. in my book, youve only lost 3 points, the engine and the gearbox!
  6. that looks really good! you got the size of the spacer right unlike whoever measured it when they converted mine! im looking forward to seeing more pictures of it. when the 80" gets a v8 i'll be putting the disc brakes on it but will be drilling the extra two holes and i'll remake the spacers so they are a little bigger.
  7. any news on this? ive seen some pictures on landyzone but they are a bit dark! hows the conversion working?
  8. definitely 80" because of the windscreen hinges, grab handle and the fixing points that are used with the clamps on the windscreen to keep it in place. the footwell has been made by someone though
  9. people dont seem that keen at all where i am which is a big disappointment! ive only got a small socket set and some screwdrivers here. ive got to swap the internals of my 90's front axle out and replace them as they are far too worn so i might do that in the car park to see if i can get the ball rolling!
  10. sounds very good! looking forward to the pictures i hate being stuck at uni not being able to do anything i need to do on the landrover when home is 3 hours away. more days off to come though i think because of the snow. all ive done is fix the handbrake while lying in the car park in the 2 weeks ive been back!
  11. i'd really advise you to try and put a third bolt in the middle of the steering arm and into the housing to make it stronger. i will not be putting all the bits from mine back on a series again until there is at least a third bolt in it. when i took it apart to put my 2a back to standard, the two bolts that held the arm on werent in the best condition
  12. as you live in such a sunny area, wouldnt the sun light reflect on the bare ali very brightly, especially off the bonnet and onto the windscreen blinding you as you drive along?
  13. how are you going to go about fitting the track rod? id do your own measurements for the spacers, use mine as a guide but whoever put it together didnt get his measurements quite right so the track at the front was always a bit narrow than the back. i stripped the set up off mine as i need to sell it and thought it be better to sell standard got a 90 now for uni - that was over 6 months ago and i still havent sold the series - really dont want to haha
