Thanks, could any one shed some light on the benefits of an uprated intercooler, may look at renewing it at same time of fitting new hoses are they worth the money? ;-)
-
Had a look on line and not too confident about shapes that suit, any suppliers that may be recommended

Now you got me going, will be having a noisy at them, something else to spend my money on and another job to do on the tick list ta h

Thanks for the replies i got my head in the engine bay and manually revved her up..there is a 70mm pipe which comes from the oil cooler rad? This was collapsing on full throttle the mechanic had put it back at more of a right angle with a kink in it. Undone and rerouted it and all is well again. Thanks again .

Hi got my landy back from having the rear crank oils seal renewed...the transmission was removed to do this..now today it will start and tick over fine however as soon as you attempt to rev it just idles with a mixture of heavy white and puffs of black smoke aaargh
First thing I noticed this morning was the turbo not working, then this happened any ideas please?

Landy now back in safe hands cannot check for leaks though as the floor is still out..right weather for it tho.
Btw cannot recommend more Martin at Landranger services in Atherton, top guy.

Genius, improvise, overcome and adapt....still in garage the 200 tdi was not fully bolted to the flywheel housing so a bit of drilling and tapping to be done, get her back soon with no oil leaks but still roof leaks..
-
will do, get her back this week...oil leak free...ahh hope
-
Hi yes I do have the rear vents but pretty sure the water is not coming from that area, I have put roof sealant in the gutter and think this may have solved it, not fully sure yet as it is in the garage having the cranckshaft oil seal renewed

Hi wonder if anyone can hep..was working on the defender today putting some new spots on when the side light fuse popped, seems current was too high and whoever wired the spots in had done so not through a relay.
My dash illumination lights now do not work, everything else does.
Checked the fuses, etc and have traced the fault to a red and white supply wire which should have 12 volts switched. I can trace this wire into a loom which dissapears into the bulkhead.
Have read the Haynes manual and it seems to pick its voltage from the fuses.
Can anyone enlighten me on where the dash illumination wire picks up its voltage?
On the cusp of supplying fused 12volts off the battery and cut into the supply, what do you think ?

Thanks feel more comfortable now

Forgot to mention hoping to fit a overdrive unit to the transfer Box
-
Hi can I ask for confirmation on the following oils
Gearbox mtf not atf......would EP 90 be good here
Transfer box EP 90 gl 4 not 5
Diffs EP 90 gl5
It's for a 200rfid with a 1.4 defender transmission and 5 speed box
And standard defender axles
Have done a search and this is roughly what I have concluded
-
Thanks it's a 1.4 checked this morning not wholly convinced to do, don't tow much (small trailer). Seems a big job to do on the drive
-
Thank you the engine is a 200tdi is it worth doing maybe looking at getting more mph and a bit quieter
-
Hi there some more advice, my defender will get to around 60 mph and it's noisyish
I have been looking at the transfer box so here goes
How do I identify my existing box and it's ratio
Which ratio box would be best suited for a quieter , faster drive
How would I identify the ratio on a potential box that I may be interested in buying
How long to change and any mods required
Thanks again

Do not like the sound of corrosion being found the chassis is in very good condition so hope for the best when I get round to it
But will have a little nosey tomorrow cause you got me worried

Would you recommend changing the mounts at the same time as renewing the shocks
-
What's your view on Monroe shocks, ahh could hold back and save a bit more for the Koni or could go straight for and fit Monroe with OME springs
-
Hi I will soon be investing in a new set of shocks and springs, at the moment I am trending towards standard Monroe shocks and all make standard springs.
However I have started to consider terraffirma but what I would like to ask is do terrafirma do a standard suspension kit say, light load, as the only extra weight would be the basket on top and camping stuff any advice would be appreciated

Hi any advice on good insurance deals, I have been quoted 260 for a landrover defender 90 at age 49 with limited mileage of 1500 fully comp what d'ya think
-
hi I am thinking of going for a britpart heavy duty standard kit all else.seem to offer a lift. are britpart really as.bad as forums suggest and how would a heavy duty system affect the landy on the road with no load on
-
if i fit a 1.5 inch lift kit to the landy will i have to alter such things as the propshaft?
windscreen seal leak advice
in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)

Hi,
I have had the windscreen seal and windscreen renewed on my landrover defender by a local independant.... about six month ago
I took it back about two month ago as there was a leak at the bottom left hand corner which gathers at the bottom of the passenger door this seemed to pool there after a heavy downpour, it is usually parked on a tilt they put some flexible sealant on it, i may add that they really, really struggled to get the windscreen in!
Question is after heavy downpours it still leaks badly from around this area, i am convinced this seal leaks but cannot be totally sure, the windscreen fitter said he had a hose pipe on it and that the water is coming from the door seal however when you peel the lip of the seal back you can see the shiny reflection of water any ideas how this could be after all oyes a brand new .seal
