I'm running 315/70/17s and it still locks up at an indicated 54mph - just as it did on 265/70/17s and 235/70/16s. The trouble is that the indicated 54mph is actually about 62mph - checked with a Road Angel, TomTom and an iPhone.
Which is the next step?
Diffs or a transfer box? Any 1st hand solutions out there?
Hi
I don't think Niamh's suggestion will work. I think those are designed for round nuts which don't spin - yours spins.
It looks like a cheapo Halfords nut. With the correct key, the centre lifts out, then the circular cover lifts off exposing the nut. I had some and they are pretty flimsy. If you don't get a better suggestion, I'd apply some force to the centre section with a hammer and old screw driver. It will soon drop out then the cover is off.
When returning to my Disco, I press my blipper to unlock it. If it doesn't unlock first time, I hold it up to the window and point it at the dashboard?!?!?!?!?!??!
Why do I point it at the dash - No idea !
Where is the box which receives the blipper signal?
I bought my Wide Track Sankey about four weeks ago. I'm in the process of fitting 315/70/17 on alloys to it. The height is fine but I need to widen the arch in some way.
Any 165/5 PCD wheels (LR Series, Defender, Disco, Rangie but not D2, P38 RRS, Freelander, etc) will fit. Just watch they don't stick past the side as I imagine the same applies as a car - they must be covered.
Hi.
1. If the steel wheels are definately off a Defender and your Disco is a 200/300 series then the wheels will fit. Both are 5/165 PCD. You will need new wheel nuts though - about £15 on eBay.
4. When I upgraded my tyres, I didn't change mine. Just remember the reading is slightly low - especially heading into speed cameras.
Nice price.
I'm guessing the sensors are internal not external. If so, the only downside is the two year life span. My BFGs have been on for three and used 2mm of tread in 28k. At that rate I'd have to swap three times before I swapped the tyres.
The Tyresure ones last for seven years but you've got me thinking if the batteries are replaceable - I need to check!
Has anybody got any experience with Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems on your Discovery?
I'm due to change tyres soon and thought they seemed like a good idea.
