  1. Hi Tony, I'd be careful puting a lattitude/longitude reference in your profile. Use Google Earth and it shows any lowlife exactly where your "pride and joy" is!!
  2. I need a new baby seat for the age range 9 months to 4 years (or better still 9 months to 11 years). It's needed for the rear seat of an (internally) standard 4 Door 95 300 series Disco. My wife and I have spent the weekend trawling baby seat suppliers to no avail. The position of the seatbelt mount on the wheel arch means that the seats all have lateral movement. I was told by one supplier to move the seat belt mount further back on the wheel arch or better still mount it onto the boot floor. Both of these positions will pull the seat back into the rear seat and will eliminate lateral movement. Now the Discos ( and RRC's) are frequently used as family buses so there must be LR4x4'ers in the same boat. My quesions are....... What seats do you use for the age range 9 months to 4 years? Has anybody relocated the seat belt mounts? If so - what seat do you use? How does this affect the MOT? Thanks in advance.
  3. If you are a geek for knowing what a ERG is then what does it make me when I have no idea at all? Go on then...................
  4. I took the easy route and bought a new one of Ebay - £4. I'm hopefully fitting it this weekend. I used a pull as the air con is located on the front. The fan I got was reversible and could be used as push or pull. Respect.
  5. Different car but same principle..... I had an F Plate RRC which I had spent a small fortune one, 3.9, sequential LPG, Scorpion Evo Kit, BFG Muds, etc. About 15k in total. Max bid on ebay was 2.7k!!! I chopped it up and sold 3.8k and kept 4.0k worth of bits for my Disco. Took about three weeks of spare time to break.
  6. But this is without the viscous fan which has been removed. Kenlowe say 2/3 is the correct point to start the fan - anything earlier and the warranty is void. At the moment, I've set the fan to kick in at 1/3 (plus 2 notches on the dial). Ive got no idea if this is too high or too low. My next step is to change the stat - might help - might not.
  7. Just fitted a Kenlowe fan to my 300Tdi Auto. Kenlowe say the gauge should read 2/3 before the new fan kicks in. On a hot day, with no viscous fan and Kenlowe off, engine drive hard and then ticking over for 30mins - the gauge never goes over it's usual 1/3. Like this, the fan will be redundant. Started it from cold this morning and the thermostat does not allow pump to pass anything through rad for ten minutes. Drive it round the block to reach 1/3 temp and the stat allows water to flow around the rad. Can I get a stat in a hotter grade?
  8. Hi All, I want to check the ignition timing but can't find any evidence of settings. What RPM should it be set at? Vacuum advance pipe on or off? How many degrees BTDC on what octane? At the moment, she's taken to pinking badly. Thanks in advance.
  9. I know! Auto's always get less but mine is quite low. Driven carefully too!
  10. Good question! Good question! I've checked my MPG meticulously in my 13890 miles of ownership - 22.42mpg on a 300tdi (Jap import) auto on mainly urban milage. Any way to improve this would be appreciated!
  11. I had something similar on mine. It was caused by putting a bottle jack between the axle and bump stop bracket so that I could force the axle down to fit +2" springs. Hit it with a BB hammer and it went back okay. Rung like a bell though!
  12. Also, give the wedge a little squirt of WD40 or a drop of light oil and the creaking you often hear will become a glide that you can't hear!
  13. Just wondering if anybody has anything to add? New link below... http://www.cheviot4x4.com/shop/Products/Li...o%20Lite%20180/

  15. Don't forget - if you are short of clearance of your lift does not go high enough.... Deflate the tyres!
  16. Hi All, I'm looking for a new front driver's window run rubber/glazing strip/weather strip - the U shaped rubber strip which sits inside the door frame. The Disco part manual does not give a number - so I am not sure where to start. Anybody know where to get one from? They are exactly the same as the RRC, I know this as I have already done the passenger side with an used RRC part. Cheers. Rob.
  17. Hi all I need to bend a small piece of 3mm steel plate back to flat again. I've got vague recollections about O level metal work back in the early 80's and can remember phrases such as annealing, work hardening, tempering, quenching, etc. I seem to remember they are all heat related but not sure which applies to me. The plate in question has already been bent cold (accidentally) by 90 degrees and needs to return to flat again without weakening or cracking it. I have access to a heat source, vice and BB hammer. Thanks in advance.
