  1. It is a good site, plenty of places to go to suit everything from leafers to shiney air sprung.
  2. Hants & Berks Land Rover Owners are hosting a Pay & play day on Sunday 12th March 2017. 'Slab Common offers a wide variety of terrain to suit all levels of off road ability. A perfect introduction to off roading for novice drivers through to some more tricky bits for the more experienced driver. £25 gets you entry to the venue and all the off roading you can handle! If you are not a member of an MSA affiliated 4x4 club you will need to join ours this can be done on the day for an additional fee of £5 The event is open to all types/makes of road legal 4x4 vehicles up to a max gross weight of 3.5 tonnes (sorry no quads). A recovery point on the rear of your vehicle is a must (a tow bar is sufficient) and a front recovery point is helpful but not a requirement. We will also be holding an RTV and Tyro. Catering and toilet facilities are available.' For those that have not been, Slab Common (near Bordon, Hants) is mainly sand rather although there is adequate mud if you wish, and has a large area to explore.
  3. That goes into the bent pipe that comes out of the top of the radiator. I can't take any credit for this, as it is all as built before I bought it. The only things I have done to the cooling is to add a Kenlow sensor and relocate the overflow bottle to a bracket mounted on the NSF chassis rail (along with the coil).
  4. There are some photos of the radiator I have on my 3.5 Series here I don't have any issues with temperature unless I forget to turn the 'wading' switch off. The overflow tank is the same as the one posted by tommobot
  5. ej, do you have an X-brake on yours?
  6. I have an S1 88" with a Rover 3.5 mated to a S1 gearbox (dipstick) and a Salisbury rear axle. Not great photos, but they give an idea. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipN7bBLh30dOWhW_E3ZFbXdwBGb_ZYqVhfBXtyF8byyZpXnobUahnm21cMGpDfVL2g?key=ZzFvLTk1OHNic3gtLUdTS3dNM2hXeDhwNmU0d0ZR What I need is a handbrake I can rely on when I fail a climb. It looks like I have room for the deeper brake unit. I cleaned up the brake mechanism last year, but it isn't good enough. I will be doing a rebuild either on a new chassis or possibly repairing the grot (you can see some on the close up picture on the left side of the chassis rail) if I can convince myself it is worth saving. What I am after is something that will survive being trialled on a regular basis. Thanks
  7. I managed to find a nice S1 on display at the Malvern sort-out. That measured around 34". A nearby S2 was 36", so it looks like I have a later axle on my S1 88" At least I have a better chance of getting spares now. Thanks.
  8. Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to fit a Defender type handbrake unit on the back of a Series 1 transfer box? Mine current one is effectively useless and I want something that will be safe when trialling. Thanks.
  9. Hello. I can't find a serial number on my front axle. Am not sure exactly what I have on there. It is on a series 1, however the steering arms are bottom mounted, so could be an S2 one. Can someone let me know what the width of the axle casing (flange to flange) should be for a series 1? Mine measures 3' - 91.5cm Thanks
  10. OK, thanks will see if any are around.
  11. Hello. I am looking for something to replace my existing wings on George my S1 88" as I use him for trialing and don't want to damage them any more than they are already. So... are there any ABS replacements or suchlike available anywhere? I don't mind too much about looks, just that they be resilient when interference fitting with the environment. Thanks
