The problem with the followers was sorted by the supplier sending HD replacements. the tappets were new genuine and the quality was utter pants.
Tried it with the tdi caps and it seems to make no difference.
Motor has a different cam in it. to date its went thru a set of followers and a set of tappets. no problems with lubrication as everything else is fine. on a 2nd set of followers and they are holding up but the new set of tappets are carp the hardening is worn thru already and i cant set the clearances acurately.
I enjoy annoying people with my tuned up 2.25 engine but if this continues then i really need to think about a v8!
it was a universal trigger wheel i bought 36-1 the od was larger than my crank pulley the id was slightly less.
machined the crank pulley until the trigger wheel was a press fit. timed it up and then welded it all together.
Hi all
I megajolted my 2.25 petrol 2A probably 3 years ago now. one of the best things i have every done to it!
rock steady timing, ultimate reliability(so far) , instant starting , waterproof no need to worry about water,
improved fuel economy.
do it you wont regret it

I've got the ACR su kit on my engine and it works very well indeed, twin su's are not needed just more to go out of tune.
I have since picked up a set of bike throttle bodies and have been onto bogg bros for a manifold.i have been going to go megasquirt when a unused v8 conversion kit came up complete with engine which i have now bought and now i dont know which way to turn
Hi All
ive just got a v8 engine and conversion kit for my 2a.
its all new and complete apart from the engine mounts.
Dont want to cut or weld my galvanised chassis the kit should have come with bolt on mounts
but they are missing anyone have any idea what they should look like?
Plenty of oil getting to them. and its now fully synthetic now the motors ran in.
dont know if the cam profile has something to do with it its an ACR cam.
will just put new genuine parts in it and see if it helps.
the tappets will just not go quiet and the faces are starting to wear on the tappets making proper adjustment impossible.
Thought i would post this here as the series 2 club would cancel my membership
i have the chance of a coil sprung series2 hybrid built before the rule changes so still tax exempt.
it needs a new chassis so if i change it like for like with a new coil sprung chassis will it still be tax exempt?
