1995 Defender 110 CSW, this problem has been covered before but I thought it might be useful to share how I resolved this problem on my vehicle.
My dipped beam was not working so after checking the fuses, main lighting switch (S100), Relay-Dim Dip(R126), Relay-Headlamp(R123) I then checked the
Switch-Column(R123) and found that the connection between C036-1 and C036-6 was faulty, this was due to the blue wire (C036-1) coming loose on the copper strip which has the contacts.
Made a temporary solder and this solved the problem. Will fit a new switch as not 100% sure the solder will hold over time.
