  1. Hi Martin welcome to the forum. I changed the shocks and springs for heavy duty ones on my 300 tdi and was amazed at the difference. On road and especially off road ride was improved.
  2. Sime, I spoke to frog island 4 x 4, they were very helpful and supplied me with the springs and shocks. I have a winch bumper, steering guard and winch fitted to the front, all this extra weight lowered the front by approx 25mm. the new suspension has corrected this and given me approx' 1" lift all round. I didn't want any more than this as I off road every other weekend as well.
  3. Be careful when replacing springs as my rear axle spring mounting plates "fell apart" as soon as i tried to undo the spring plate bolts - resulting in a replacement 2nd hand rear axle. The replacement axle did not have mounts for anti roll bar (off a 200tdi i think) - so the roll bar was removed, but with H D springs and shocks you don't get much roll anyway. Good luck.
  4. Hi Ihave a 94 300tdi and it was soft on the suspension. I replaced all 4 springs and shocks with heavy duty ones. The old shocks were completely shot. I think that just replacing the shocks would help you. The difference in the ride both on and off road was surprising. stu.
  5. I had a juddering on my 300tdi auto. Turned out to be the u/j on the rear of the front prop shaft. You could contact Somerset 4x4 (James) as he is very good and based in Badgeworth.

  7. My 300tdi auto has always done this despite gearbox filter & fluid change. My drive is also sloping. To get to the top on a cold start I put it in low range and up she goes!!!!! I think you are expeiencing "it's normal with a land rover sir"
  8. Hi, Yep another person with the same problem. I had the head gasket done and still had overheating as you describe. I changed the rad as it was shot (few fins left) and hey presto no problems since. Good luck.
  9. Fitted one to mine and it touches the water pipe - air intake pre heat!!!!!!!
  10. Hi I get a lot of pleasure from my auto especially up hill at an awkward spot. As everyone else has said be careful downhill as you have no control over speed apart from the brake. Such lazy driving but great!
  11. Where have you mounted the aerial? |I roof mounted one last weekend and didn't have a good earth = poor/non existent reception/transmission.
  12. Thanks guys that clears up any confusion and I guess we'll have to do it in the 'Rush Month'!!!!!!
  13. Hi all, I am going with disco tony to Strata Florida in August, so thanks for the info. My question is about the Gap road. Having driven it last year as an organised trip and had to be winched up the rock steps in my shogun sport (not quite good enough tyres) I now want to do it in my disco. A lot of confusion surrounds this bit of road as to when or if it is open. Can anybody shed any light on this?
