  1. ok found the sealing strip stuff, just got to find somewhere that sells the 14 x 3/4 self tappers.
  2. cheers western and everyone, most helpful as usual. I was going to use a load of silicone but i pull the floor up so often that im going try and do it with rubber seals.
  3. what method do you find is easiest for taking off/lifting on the transfer box as i have the nice job of doing this aswell. i usually just drop the gearbox and tranfer box with an engine hoist but dont have one this time.
  4. cheers western, im also going to replace the seal as everytime i got through a puddle it comes through the gaps and sprays my face in water
  5. hi, could anyone tell me what them little plastic things are called that you screw the self tappers in to hold the floor down? also does anyone know what size i need them in? and what size self tappers to use? thanks
  6. yes rear output seal from what u have described, heres a link from the tech archive http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=29370
  7. that seems to look ok, but like you said i think i will just fit them to 8" rims.
  8. silly question maybe. would it be ok havng 285 width tyres on 10" rims as i like the offset of the 10" rim? thanls
  9. i think the oil temp guage would be electric and would go in place of the sump plug. The oil pressure would be electric and you can get ones with adaptors so that you keep the sender for the low oil pressure light and add another sender for the guage. the boost guage would be mechanical and u plumb it in to the little pipe on the wast gate thingy on the turbo. hope this helps
  10. i can take some this evening, is it for a van, csw or truck cab.
  11. is it deffinately transfer box, maybe diff etc.
  12. no, im pretty sure they have to bolt to the chassis, i bolted mine to the chassis anyway.
  13. Ive got a borg warner transfer box with a seized up viscous coupling in it, so is in permanent diff lock if thats any use.
  14. ah right. i thought they were going to be a pita but they were farely easy.
  15. got it finished yesterday, managed to undo the exhaust nuts a few turns and get the vc out without taking the exhuast off completely.
  16. got the day off tomorow so will find out then.
  17. im pretty sure its the y as th bit behind it is miles back and the bit in front is the manifolds. ive got a day off tomorow to carry on so will see how i get on.
  18. made a start on it yesterday, but it appears that the exhuast downpipe/ y pipe stops me from taking vc housing off, so it looks like i need to take that off to unless ive missed somthing.
  19. the engine and transfer box can be used but dont think you can use the disco gearbox. so you would need to either find an r380 defender box or lt77 defender box and make that fit.
  20. Im 18 and my insurance is £350 a year with nfu for my 90 with disco 200tdi
  21. the vc i'll have is out of a borg warner, so unless yours is borg warner it wont be any good for you.
  22. put a old seized up viscous coupling in it. then you will have permanent diff lock. i will have one available in a few days as im changing it at the moment.
  23. cheers bogmonster, hopefully someone will shed some light on the situation
