hi,
whilst the gearbox is off being rebuilt i noticed a little puddle of engine oil on the floor, which it looks to me like it weeping around where the flywheel housing joins the engine. My theory is thats its weeping out because the engine tipped right back because the gearbox isnt on. anyone have any ideas on the situation?
thanks
im thinking maybe go down to 33 as i cant justify spending the money on cv's and i dont want to be breaking stuff everytime i go out. I it mainly rear axle parts that go or front?
thanks
hi,
ive currently got 35"/12.5"/15" tyres on my 90, they are pro comp and are similar to bfg style tread, and havnt broke anything yet, if i was to upgrade to somthing grippier i.e. maxxis muddzilla/creepy crawler will it quite likely destroy everyting and should i go down in size a bit.
thanks
hi,
i started taking everything apart eady for the back axle last night and noticed the A frame ball joint seems different to the one that was on the axle, as the nut was 24mm spanner whereas the one on the disco was 30mm any ideas as to wether it will work?
thanks
thanks Les i think the splines are worn as there that red paste stuff. so turn the drive flanges and pull it out by hand or will i need some sort of gear puller?

Hi,
Ive been taking out my gearbox and transfer box today to get the box reconditioned. but i could not get the box and transfer box apart. So i took the pto cover plate off the back of the transfer box and tryed taking the input gear off. I thought it was supposed to just slide off but it seems to have seized onto the gearbox mainshaft because it will not come off no matter what i try any ideas?
thanks
ok so im gonna order the bits today, does anyone know what size fittin i need, if its any help its a disco 1 back axle and its going on a 1984 90. thanks
Managed to get it off in the end by hacking away at the top half of the nut with a 4.5" grinder and then just loosened it with a socket on the remaining bit of the nut. thanks for help
hi,
trying to remove the ball joint off my axle and when i turn the nut the joint just turns so it wont undo and there nothing to grip, has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas?
