  1. Michael Thanks, I have already nudged the powers that be to that effect! John
  2. jonost24 The key defining principle of LR4X4 is that we are completely independent and not beholden to any commercial interests be it retailers manufacturers or magazines etc. Allmakes can if they wish offer discounts to LR4X4 members in their signature line, however the transaction would be outside the auspices of LR4X4. Some of our members do have commercial interests in Land Rover accessories etc and they are very welcome on LR4X4 provided they do not use their membership to promote product or services sales. A number are valued contributors that add to the technical, development and general advice on the forums. Some already offer LR4X4 member discounts and one in particular I am aware of has an LR4X4 discount code on their online website. To maintain LR4X4's independence we raise funds through donations, which generally come from members, some of which pay a regular standing order. On occasion additional funds come from LR4X4 apparel sales of tee/sweat shirts etc which derive a small contribution to our coffers. For those of you that are interested the funding section can be found - http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?app=core&module=help&do=01&HID=18 John

  5. The Three Tuns in Great Abington 5 miles south of Cambridge has accommodation excellent real ales and lagers, in addition probably the best Thai food for many miles. Good pub atmosphere despite the food. http://www.thethreetuns-greatabington.co.uk/ John
  6. A good place to start is to ask Paul Humphreys a member here and of CRAG. Paul is a pearl of wisdom regarding the area and is very helpful with guidance and advice. John
  7. Passed my Class 4 MOT this week, vehicle is a 110, was a commercial hardtop VIN says 3050kg now a CSW with no self leveller! No mention of a Class 7 required. Was hoping this would be the case! John
  8. I would be very wary of a vented caliper! However vented discs are another matter, which will fit the STC1267. If you have non vented discs and you wish to fit vented, drilled, grooved or otherwise, you will need wider calipers (which in that sense you might consider them to be vented) for the wider discs. I have seen spacers sold to widen calipers but do not have an opinion as their durability of safety. John
  9. True Simon, but it's the sort of comment most if us disregard given the source! John
  10. Yes but you have had the last word John
  11. David Is that what it costs or what it costs to buy from you? John
  12. Chris a helpful post, it would be interesting to know which track the police believe is legal. Is it a route available on satnav? I would have a copy of the satellite photo with me when attempting the track if only to ask for clarification from a warden or police officer if stopped or challenged! The other option is to waypoint the route into a GPS from the latest definitive plan as held by the relevant Council. John
  13. OK has everyone has their say? Please now keep to the topic as it will help to inform those who plan to use the plain to fully investigate where they are permitted to travel. Any more side swipes (including me!) and I will lock the thread. John
  14. I suppose you would like white lines down the middle and cats eyes too! John
  15. Welcome Carl & Jane. There are quite a few long standing forum members in your area, I am sure someone will be along shortly with some local advice. John
  16. Only goes to show how unclean your diffs were after all that cleaning if there was still enough ep90 to contaminate the dough. Keep trying Nige you might one day discover a decent recipe, all good food starts as a list of ingredients which through experiment and many an accident become wonderful meals! Keep working on the jus John
  17. No LR4X4 is not a club as such, but I am sure there will be lots of forum members standing around on other pitches. John
  18. Neill Please seek professional advice to ensure you are convinced that the integrity of your repair is foolproof. Pretty or not does not come into it, safety does! John
  19. JST a member on here has recent experience of TGV2.8 timing belt change, I suggest you PM him for advice as I know he had some issues using 300tdi vs TGV specific parts. John
  20. Engine is an International 2.8TGV as stated above, developed from the 300TDI. I have one in my 110! John
  21. Richard Have you considered an OZTent? - http://uk.oztent.com/Oztent%2DShop/ As you will still have the roofrack it can travel on top. It's a 2m long sausage when folded about 25cm in diameter. I used one in Morocco this April along with another family of six that used two. Very easy to set up, two to five minutes depending how many guy lines you wish to peg down, it can stand without any. Full adult standing room for 60% of area, excellent ventilation and mesh screens and an awing to the front that can have sides and end added, doubling the available space for shade or rain. They also have a mesh inner for the awning giving bug screening if required. You would have plenty of room for two adults on camp beds and a child travel cot in versions RV3,4 & 5. John
  22. Try doing a search as this question comes up a couple of times a year. Try Google to start with and it should bring up loads of threads including some from this forum. I recall you will find some interesting debates as to the options and personal preferences. John
