Hello All,
Finally I have my new landy a 1987 90 2.0 td and she is brilliant - or was!
After cleaning 20 odd years of grime out of the cab, I fitted a stereo and a couple of power outlets. Since then when I turn the key, the ignition goes straight to crank and will not allow me to pre heat the glow plugs.
I have changed the ingnition barrel and switch to be on the safe side but still the same problem. The AA man is stumped too, he has managed to get her started but only by wiring another power feed to a connection on the driver's side of the engine about half way down just under the glow plugs.
I can now start her normally, glow plug, ignition etc but have to open the bonnet and remove the fuse from the AA man's temporaryy repair to stop her running.
Any ideas, I would really appreciate some help, I am keen not go give up and get a auto sparks as I want to really get to know my Landy and don't want to have to turn all girlie over her.
Cheers Silly Tilly
