  1. All sorted, multiple problems, broken wire, wrong switch etc but happy to say that tilly lives!!!
  2. Guys, I am still struggling. I realised that the spares place had sold me the wrong ignition switch so have swapped it for the right one. Black end with two large terminals and three small ones. I have swapped them over and returned the old one. Removed all the wiring that I had put in and it has made no difference at all - I am totally stumped and out of my depth!!!! I think that I have to admit that I need help, does anyone know of a Mobile Auto Sparks that knows about Landys and will come out to Shepton Mallet.
  3. OK thanks for all your input people - plan of campaign:- 1) take everything out that I put in, including the old ignition switch 2) try to start - if no joy 3) change to new ignition switch 4) try to start - if it starts replace new stuff one piece at a time. 5) try to start... you get the drift... Wish me luck will report back on the other side of what might be a very long weekend.
  4. Arrrrh thanks guys, I feel a weekend of methodical wire tracing coming on, will book the therapy session for Monday!!
  5. Hello All, Finally I have my new landy a 1987 90 2.0 td and she is brilliant - or was! After cleaning 20 odd years of grime out of the cab, I fitted a stereo and a couple of power outlets. Since then when I turn the key, the ignition goes straight to crank and will not allow me to pre heat the glow plugs. I have changed the ingnition barrel and switch to be on the safe side but still the same problem. The AA man is stumped too, he has managed to get her started but only by wiring another power feed to a connection on the driver's side of the engine about half way down just under the glow plugs. I can now start her normally, glow plug, ignition etc but have to open the bonnet and remove the fuse from the AA man's temporaryy repair to stop her running. Any ideas, I would really appreciate some help, I am keen not go give up and get a auto sparks as I want to really get to know my Landy and don't want to have to turn all girlie over her. Cheers Silly Tilly
