  1. Hi. Thanks for the replies. Found them at BritCar. Hope they are correct; they look right in their photos. Cheers
  2. Hi. I am at my wits end. It wasn't a long journey. I am trying to rebuild the front hubs on my 1997 Disco. I, unfortunately, had to remove the lower swivel pin, which involved trying to remove the 16 year old, British countryside encased, Torx bolts. As you can imagine this did not go according to plan and I had to use heat and stud extractors. This is all fine. You expect this sort of thing on a vehicle of this age. However I cannot find replacement bolts. I have tried removing them from a RR of similar age but with the same predictable results. The only place I can find any state that LR will only sell them in packs of 10, at a total of £48.00. I could buy a second hand hub for less. Having replaced and re- assembled the whole swivel ball I really don't want to have to strip it down for the sake of two bolts. The part number of the offending items is RNE219. I do not know the specification of the bolt to try a bolt manufacturer. I have attached a diagram. The bolt I'm after is number 27. Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers Pat
  3. Thanks very much Recovery Man. Very helpful.
  4. Hi there all. I bought a Discovery some time ago. It is fitted with Range Rover alloys. I recently had to break a locking wheel nut to remove the wheel and will alos be breaking all the other ones. I am getting a little confused about what to buy to replace them. I see some on line without the taper, which mine have. Are disco wheel nuts (1998) the same as RR nuts? I can't seem to find any which include complete dimensions in their description. Can anyone advise please?
  5. Hi my 300tdi has developed a braking problem recently. I have been using it to transport archery equipment around a wood for the last few days and the brakes have become really poor. If I pump them they then come back to full power and are very effective but then the next time the brake pedal will go practically to the floor and barely stops it. There is a sound like air escaping when I pump the pedal. Someone has suggested it could be the servo; although he admits he is really guessing. Any suggestions?
  6. Hi again. I didn't get a chance to get the rad out yet but jet washed it out a bit. I noticed that although the temperature was at half way the electric fans did not cut in. Can anyone suggest what could cause this? Should they have cut in at that level?
  7. Thanks folks. All done now. Cheers
  8. Cheers M&S will get some tomorrow. I think the 14mm bolts are for mounting the actual ball hitch. I just need to ones to mount the main plate and the side stays; the ball hitch is already mounted.
  9. Can anyone tell me what size and type of bolts I need for fitting a tow bar to my MK1 Diso? Or do I just use off the shelf stuff. I measured the holes in the tow bar at 12.77 mm on the top and 11.98 on the side struts.
  10. Thanks folks will have it out the week.
  11. Hi. My 300tdi overheats when run for a while at around 55 mph. It never gets really over the top as I put the heater on and it maintains at around the half way up on the gauge. However the infallible weather forecasters are predicting higher temperatures in the near future and I do not relish sitting in a 100 degree plus sweat-box. I only recently bought it and the previous owner did off-road it. The rad looks to be a bit choked up with mud. Is this a likely cause? If so how would you suggest best dealing with it? Obviously I would prefer not to take the rad out if I could avoid it. Is a jet washer likely to damage the rad?
  12. Hi. We use Solidworks at my school and we get ours from NT CADCAM they are pretty good. They do training and good aftersales service. Solidworks is not cheap but it is seriously good kit. We obviously use the education version but we find it really excellent. Try this link... http://www.ntcadcam.co.uk/ Hope this helps.
  13. Hi. I have only recently bought my Mk 1 discovery and took it into our wood last weekend and inevitably got a bit stuck. I selected low range and tried again. During the next few minutes I struggled to get out of the very loose leaf-litter. Only my front wheels span while I was stuck. Can anyone tell me why this happened? Does it mean, as I have been told, that the transfer box is banjaxed? Is there a less expensive explaination? Living in hope!!!
