  1. Thanks for the replys guys, thought it was one of the cheaper ones out there as it came free with the bumper. pulled it apart and it's the coil springs that push the brushes that have broke , the brushes look fine . Thanks again Iain

  5. Hi guys i am in the middle of doing a cluthch change on my 110 csw it has a 200tdi out of a disco and the original gearbox , there is a brass bush in the center of the flywheel which is knackered does this need to be replaced or is it ok just to leave it out . if i need to keep it does anyone have a part no as looked in microcat but cant find it . all help apreciated Cheers Iain
  6. Hi guys how about a coil of copper pipe made to go inbetween the inner and outer part of the flask ? something like this you remove the bottom part of flask and sit it over the coil which would be in an upright position if you put a couple of clips on the bottom part and attach it to the chassis or somthing the flask would clip together and be held upright while it heats. once hot undo clips lift of flask . you use brake pipe and put in a cut off valve which would mean you could turn it off when not needed also if you put it in the truck it could be used as a heater too .if this doesnt make sence tell me and i will draw a picture . hope this helps cheers Iain
  7. Hi mate i had a rattle like that turned out to be the gearstick was loose might be worth a check. cheers Iain
  8. Being a biker i think all vehicals on the road should have them and there should be a law made to make people have them fitted as it can be imposible to see sometimes when you are behind a motor that hasnt got them fitted . (i would also like to say that i dont tailgate when im on the bike ) cheers Iain Quote I'd like to get some quick release ones for mine. The stone size a bfg mud can pick up worries me slightly after being hit by a few stones i can say it gives you a fright and can also hurt
  9. I too have to agree have got all the info i have needed from the archive or from posts after searching and the times i have asked for help i havent had to wait to long for a reply . so thanks to all the members for all the help. cheers Iain
  10. Hi guys thanks for all the replys , i think i should have said in the first post that it is the light bar at the front with 4 spots on it and not a lightbar/beacon . i welded a tab to the back and mounted the antenna there. going to get a lone of a nother SWR meter as i tryed with a piece of wire and it still goes off the scale started with it the same size and in the end removed about a foot and still the same . cheers Iain
  11. Thanks for the reply guys , i checked the conections and no short , also checked with a tester and there is a conection between the conector (outer part ) and the earth of the body . but i dont think it great as i use a earth wire for the lamps to the battery and i think the only conection from the lightbar to roof is from the bolts , will a piece of welding wire be ok for using instead of the whip ? will also try an earth strap from lightbar to roof. cheers Iain

  13. Hi guys well i took about three inches of a we bit at a time and the SWR still goes off the scale dont want to take anymore off incase there is a problem with the ground . cheers Iain p.s. is there anyone in the Edinburgh area that wouldnt mind giving up a wee bit of time to have a look.
  14. Hi mad pete thats the site i had looked at for the SWR readings must have missed that bit about taking 1-5 inch off . Thought it would only need a wee bit taken off will cut a bit off tomorow and see how it goes. Western you are correct there is a allen bolt for adjustment. Cheers Iain
  15. Yes its a new ariel will take a bit off tomorow and see how it goes a bit too cold and wet to try tonight. cheers Iain
  16. Well checked the SWR and it off the scale , conections all ok no shorts and CB working fine . Im using a dome mount and a springer type ariel was going to get a psm-1 mount and put it at the back but have a roof rack and from what ive read the coil shouldnt be anywere near metal . Would earthing the bar to the roof make any diference i have seen this when the ariel is on the roofrack. Cheers Iain
  17. Thanks for the reply Western , Just spent the day making a bracket and welding it to the bar then though is it good enough. cheers Iain
  18. Hi guys was just wondering if a roof light bar on a 110 would be gould enough as a ground plane or does it need to be bigger. thanks in advance Iain
  19. after spending 4 hours in the snow rewireing my brothers 94 300tdi i would say that it has an imobiliser which kicks in fi you use the one button fob. as we couldnt get the engine to start with just unlocking the doors after searching on here and google i found that if you lock the disco by the key it will set the alarm but not imobilize , so you can still start the engine and drive but alarm will sound . but if locked by fob it imobilizes and sets the alarm as when you open it just by the key it wont start . cheers Iain
  20. hi guys how about somthing like this taken from a landrover embroiderd badge cheers Iain

  23. Hi all, brother just got a 1994 disco and was trying to get the central locking to work , was checking fuses and replaced the alarm one the alarm turned on and now it wont turn of or start tryed using key in door and pod but still nothing is there any way to reset alarm or turn off completly. cheers Iain
  24. if your cup is like mine (from tescos) you can just use the handle to hold it to the dash just hook it over. no good if the handle is attaced top and bottom though. cheers Iain
