  1. iv got general graber at's on at the mo which are fantastic off and on road and excellent when towing, iv also got a second set of wheels with general grabber at2's which were also great off road and on but made the disco a little insecure when towing, also on my l200 iv got cooper stt which are emense on and off road and pretty good for towing too but that could also be down to the weight of the l200 and the rear leafs. when i replace my tyres next on either motor it will defo be a set of general grabber at's
  2. ooh waxoyl, not for me, way too sticky, i for some stupid reason covered the bottom of the seatbox in it and it ended up taking me all day and a big bottle o white spirit to get it off. Now got it coated in schutz and am well impressed wi the finish, so impressed i kept goin and did the bottom and the inner arches of the tub and the floor panels, now iv got a nice tough rubbery finish wi no stickiness. Spot on!!
  3. was thinking firenze red with the galved chassis and bulkhead mite look good, will just need to wait and see whats gona be done when im finally ready for paintin.
  4. ok thanks for the thoughts, think its gona stay bare, saw one last year at peterborough lro show wi the galved bulkhead and it looked ok but also looked like it had just been done so wasnt weathered yet.
  5. hi, big dilema today, iv left my chassis and bulkhead galvanised and this was how its gona stay but i dont know how plopplops the galv will look after a few years of weathering, the question is do i paint it then be unhappy that i no longer have the galv look or leave it. whats everyones opinion on galv or paint look ??
  6. 6" mids under dash, tweeters on top, 2 x 1200 watt 12" subs in custom panel attached to bulkhead with 2 x 450 watt 6"x9" in same panel running off kenwood flip out head unit and to crunch amps. Everyone says they cant hear anything for the noise there defender makes but i must be lucky, i just cant hear the defender. And yes its all squeezed in a truck cab so i can hear it!!
  7. used one of them string kits about 3 year back on my other 4x4 (lets not name it as its not a landrover) and its still plugging the same hole yet without any leakage and has now been through 2 mot's so it maybe a temporary repair but its lasted me and cost less than th £17 my local tyre fitter charges for a puncture repair.
  8. each to their own really, but i do like them and have a swing out carrier on the back for the wheel.
  9. aye was just reading up on that, the suggestion was them new security hinges (look carp) but surely if they want it they'll just get it open then remove the hinge from below. shouldnt be too bad round here though, nowt ever seems to go missing, mind thats maybe coz i live in the middle o nowhere and everythings locked in or secured well.
  10. now then, just had my mate on the phone who runs a breakers, could be excited here, he just had a wreck come in with a puma bonnet unmarked and wonders if i mite want it, but first does anyone know if it will fit onto my 1985 90 and if so what mods i might have to do to mount it?
  11. does anyone know if my disco td5 should have some sort of cover around the fuel filter to protect it from all the mud/salt/carp on our roads, its just iv been looking around on ebay and noticed you get one for a defender td5 but there wasnt one for a disco.
  12. excellent mite just get it done tommorrow while its up on the ramp waiting on the fuel pipe
  13. haha now iv had a look around for prices for this piece of glass and realised i need other bits that are missing, but glad i was sitting when i seen the price, nigh on £80 for 1 piece of glass and £35 for the draft seal, ouch!! wondering now if glass from my local glass supplier would do if i could get them to replicate the other side i have. any suggestions welcome but be warned iv got short arms and deep pockets.
  14. ah i know where it is now, that link gave the brain a kick, its a thick grey mass of cable runs down the outside of the inner side of the chassis.
  15. does anyone know if theres any wiring running within the driver side chassis rail of a 2003 model disco td5, need to do a little welding on the outer side of the chassis and dont wanna end up ruining anything?
  16. Hi, was wondering if anybody knows if anyone knows if the glass for the sliding windows of a truck cab are sold seperatley or if you have to buy the whole unit and if so part number if possible cheers
  17. hi, just wondering if anyone knows of the part number for the green tagged fuel line on a discovery td5. currently i have found YNI500030K but when i google it it appears in some russian website, so im not sure if this is the correct part and also does anyone know of somewhere that mite stock one other than the stealers?
  18. aye defo a pipe, pulled out all 4 and as per bloody usual it was the first one id removed, the green tagged one from the pump to the engine, eventually with the help of some plastic conduit and a set of access rods the other 3 are back in place and i just need to find out the part number for the burst on, so hey ho here we go.
  19. Evening all, today i went down to barnsley to pick up a truck cab for the 90 (excited) then no the discos leavin a puddle, had a quick look and realised the diesels leakin but not sure where, so 4 hour drive later we're home and time for a closer look. 1st - good look round underneath - still not sure 2nd - 4 bolts out, gaurd off - still nowt obvious 3rd - degreased and washed the whole surrounding area - nowt showing yet (maybe coz its wet) 4th - its dry - nothing leaking underneath but it looks like when im starting it up there seems to be fuel appearing from somewhere so the plan is have a look in the morning when its completely dry and see whats goin on and maybe remove the tank, meanwhile im wondering if anybody has any ideas what it could be and if anybody has any advice on removing the tank
  20. i just bought a set from deeside 4x4 - series 3/defender door conversion, for £200 a side you get door bottom, door top (glazed), window lock, waist seal, anti-burst door lock, trim for the top of the door bottom and the striker - all brand new -- britpart yes but iv got them fitted up now and theres absolutley nowt wrong with them. Deeside4x4.com (very friendly and helpful service)
  21. no its just a standard truck cab or will be, i thought about strengthing the bulkhead and mounting it to the top but wasnt sure if it would be strong enough.
