  1. Evening gents. In abit of a dilemma. My current bulkhead o. My 1986 90 is in abit of a state and I'm in 2 minds whether to repair or replace. I was ment to be buying a decent td5 one for £200 but for the past month haven't been able to get through to the guy 😡😡 so now my options are look for another or repair mine. Basically both top corners have started to go I. The last month or so, also the passenger footwell has had a plate welded in and when you lift the driver mat you can see outside. My welding isn't great but I get by so would I be best to repair or replace or does anyone know someone e who might can repair it for me. Cheers
  2. Ok so after testing everything and removing the starter for test Iv realised I had took a proper dumb moment. I orgot I'd ran the earth from the starter to the second earth post on the battery. DOH!! Starts nae probs now it's attached ?
  3. Excellent. Will check it out when I get home at the weekend. Hopefully just the wire off as week before I'd been tinkering in that area so possibly disturbed it
  4. Ok so went to the old girl Friday evening, turned the key and not even a click. Checked the earths, all ok, battery voltage is spot on and charging fine, all wiring intact. Was a new starter a year ago. I'm out of ideas now, anyone any suggestions?
  5. All sorted, no more shudder or rattle. Ended up with a new torque converter and gearbox
  6. I'm sure this guy I saw was at Peterborough and Billing last year.
  7. Can anyone remember the name of the company that usually attends the shows selling the heavy duty hood sticks for a soft top. I've spent most of the night on google and all I come up with is safety devices but I know that's not who I'm looking for, cheers, Ian
  8. Cheers, I remembered about that earlier. I've a full download of it at home but with working away can't get to it just now. Ordered now and on route.
  9. Cheers guys, she was dropped at Strathearn yesterday for a new TC. Still a month left on the extended warranty so I'd rather it was done now rather than later. She's been flushed twice already so TC's the best option now.
  10. Ok so when I bought my 300tdi engine it was abit harder up as first thought. After a few bits replaced it now runs spot on but at the weekend the alternators casting finally split apart at the top mount. The bottom was held by a bolt through the back spaced by 2 nuts and 5 washers with the remains of the previous bolt seized inside. I bought a replacement cover to replace the one with the seized in bolt currently fitted and will take the opportunity to replace the p gasket and water pump when I get back home at the weekend. I've upgraded to 100amp alternator so because I had the original 2.5na loom I've replaced the 2 brown charge wires with 16mm cable to handle the extra current, now I have 2 questions, what bolts do do I need for top and bottom alternator mountings? is there anything else worth replacing whilst changing the front cover? Timing was recently done and I have a new drive belt ready to go on cheers
  11. Ahh that soon changed, started again on the way home, also getting a juddering under acceleration and under load so have a bottle of DR Tranny coming to try, if that doesn't solve things I'm thinking new torque converter ?
  12. Found the spare to be slightly loose today so I've wound it up as tight as I can get it and so far haven't heard anything. Will give it a good inspection when I get home tomorrow.
  13. Cheers, will send them an email. I've found them on Safari-equip too but haven't got round to ringing them yet to check
  14. Ok so yesterday I had my 08 Disco 3 on the road for its first time. We towed our caravan up to ST Andrews but I noticed about an hour or so into the journey when I pulled away from a junction or roundabout I got a slight rattling noise from the near side rear but once up to speeed it seemed to disappear, I ruled out the tow bar as I ditched the useless detachable contraption in favour of a fixed item and once I'd unhitched the caravan the rattling was still there. I've checked all wheel nuts and jacked it up to check for bearings but as I'm on holiday til Tuesday I'm limited for tools and I don't really trust the supplied jack. Anyone any ideas? I'm thinking at best maybe a rattley stone gaurd on the rear.
  15. So after a phone call to Extreme today to place an order I find they no longer sell them. Mmm still on the hunt
  16. Ok after abit more time on Google I've found them at extreme4x4.
  17. Just wonder if anyone knows of you can get internal window gaurds for a disco 3. I used to have a set for a disco 2 but can't for the life of me remember who made them.
  18. Cheers fellas, will try and get round to fitting the switch at the weekend and see what happens
  19. Evening gents, I installed a kenlowe into my 300tdi conversion a while back but as yet it has never came on although the engine has overhear twice. I've now purchased a x eng switch to replace the kenlowe wiring and probe but problem now is I'm unsure as to how to wire it all up. I'm looking to have an on off on switch in my circuit but I'm unsure as to how to wire it all. On the kenlowe there is 3 wires, brown/grey/black. Obviously black is earth but what is brown and grey? If anyone has a chart that would be ideal....... Tried googling it earlier but struggling for a definitive answer. Cheers
  20. Cheers fellas. After a lot of googling I've purchased one of these https://www.tayna.co.uk/Numax-CXV31MF-P3694.html and upgraded from the 65amp alternator to the larger capacity 100amp
  21. Evening all. Could someone recommend me a battery for my 300tdi converted 90. A second for running my winch would be useful too. Cheers chaps
  22. Ok cheers, just seems strange for there to be such a difference in sizes
