  1. Accepted wisdom appears to be that passing gasses through the turbo will provide enough back pressure to keep the 300 Tdi engine happy. Removing either one or both boxes from the exhaust should not result in a loss of power.

You say "Surge". Could the more free flowing exhaust be smoothing your power curve and reducing lag rather than sapping power? It would feel smoother (No surge) but be more efficient.

Did you do any other mods at the same time?

  2. I'm sure this has been asked before but I cant seem to locate anything via "Search", so apologies in advance.

Is there a program I can get hold of, similar to the old microfiche style machines, which would enable me to see parts, numbers, diagrams etc? Specifially I'm after 1994 300tdi.

The speed some of you guys come back with parts numbers I'm guessing there must be something?

  3. I'm probably wishing I kept the receipt now then!

Even still, it wouldn't help in Dave's case. Any receipt could relate to any spacer couldnt it?

So, any takers? Going on ebay in feb otherwise.

  4. Thanks Paul, I'll look into memory map, it might be worth us all chipping in.

PS. Just checked google maps, you are only an hour away from us, I can do wrexham in 45 mins with a tailwind :)

I'd definately be up for some of your local lanes.

The van is a static :)

  5. I'd be coming from wigan, so my choice of route is M56, M53, then via corwen, bala to PortM, I like to stay off the A55. But we are more than willing to travel on to mid wales to do SF etc.

To be honest, we'll go any direction/distance for some quality lanes. I hoped to use my caravan as an overnight stop but if its not near any of the routes, what we save in board we spend in diesel.

  6. Thanks Cipx2.

I have possibly been a little unclear. I didnt mean the UJ's on the front prop were different sizes, just different to the rear prop.

Would you have expected TVC100010 to fit the front prop of an MA******** disco? It doesn't fit mine so you may be right.....

Further investigation required I think, I'd like to have one type of UJ standardized across both props if possible.

  7. I hope you dont mind if I join in with the request here Drizz.

I've volunteered to plan a bit of a wales trip for my mates in the spring. I have a caravan in Porthmadog so will use it as an overnight base hopefully.

I'd like to do Strata Florida, Gap and Happy Valley if they are driveable and work my way from mid back to north wales, stay over, then do some north wales stuff hopefully around snowdonia, then head for home.

Any advice, maps, routes or coordinates would be much appreciated. We have access to paper maps, online OS with GPS while mobile and sat navs.

  8. Hi all.

The same as many trucks with lifted suspension, I tend to go through more UJ's than I'd like. Probably at least two a year and I always fit GKN/Spicer's.

The thing is, its usually the same one: Front prop, Tbox end.

This is fitted with the smaller of the two universal joints quoted for this vehicle, IIRC STC2391, whilst the rear prop is fitted with the larger and stronger HD unit T000100 or something :)

Is it possible to change the yoke on the front prop for one off the rear/different model to accommodate the stronger joint?

Has anyone tried this? Am I wasting my time?

  9. I have just bought a set of Recip Trail. I'm very pleased. Not overly noisy on road, better than I had hoped in terms of handling and stopping and most importantly, I now keep up with and sometimes leave behind my 2 mates on special tracks.

    A good tyre.
