245/70 I'd say. Same as mine.

If my gearbox, steering box and various other box issues are sorted (Which they should be) by then, then I'd also like to come along.

Hi all, bit of a newb question I'm afraid...
Showed Dave (AKA Poacher) a picture of my leaky steering box. He was suitably impressed but seemed more impressed by my panhard rod.
Unfortunately before he could tell me why, he seems to have gone offline.
Can anyone else tell me whats up with it?

There are no other spacer washers for this.
Just a query. I have seen different spacer washers between 200 and 300Tdi axles. (10 and 24 spline)
It appeared to me that the spacer washer was thicker on the 200Tdi. The hub flange was deeper and the stub axle longer also.

Why would you want to adjust them? They're either tight enough or not...

I've go t a much smaller B&Q jobbie, 25 litres I think. Still fine for air tools. Not tried a saw but windy gun, ratchet etc is fine. At about £130 it does me.

Halfords are ok. I broke the 2nd biggest phillips head on my impact driver last week on a bleedin brake pipe bracket. (the simple folded one on the disco rear axle). I'm not impressed but at least they will replace it sans reciept.

2nd option gives you the same travel and is miles cheaper. Are your current dampers in good nick?
Rear articulation will be limited by trailing arms (cranked give more than straight) and the axle mounts for them. Some have little hemispherical cut outs to enable more droop travel. Dont forget yout brake hose(s) and remove or space out your anti roll bar.
Front articulation is more difficult to achieve in my experience. Removal of the anti roll bar will produce the effect you imagine, I find the front end diving into corners a bit of a pain so have kept mine on. Bottom line is its a 90% road vehicle. lowered turrets will allow more movement but there are a lot of components attached to that axle, steering etc. Also a shorter prop than at the back
I'm sure someone more experienced than I will be along shortly

He's very cheap, his kit is good, service top notch and he's a nice guy too. Based in ashton near wigan.

Axle, gearbox and transfer box breathers (Banjo bolts) are 9/16 AF or a tight 14mm. These can be replaced with much better fittings from your local hydraulics/pneumatics store. Thread size is 1/8 BSP. I'd recommend elbow swivels.

Hello all.
I apologize in advance if this seems a bit nosy. I have noticed a fair bit of "Anti-Scorpion" feeling a couple of times since I joined this forum a week or so ago.
I've also spotted that a few users even have an icon of a scorpion with a red line through it so I'm guessing feelings are running pretty strong.
I've only bought 1 item from them so far, wheel spacers nearly 2 years ago. Apart from the price, £270 ish, I have no complaints as yet. If its not too much trouble, could someone post a link to previous discussions on this issue. I have done a search for scorpion but drawn a blank.
I only ask as I'd like any information on the companies that we land rover owners routinely deal with. Bad customer service/ethics should not be tolerated and those who feel wronged should express their views in a rational and mature manner.
Thanks in advance,
Stu.

I would probably be using porthmadog as a base. If not then coming in from the north, m53/A55.

Cheers Jim, will get one.

I think there is an oil seal at the inner end of each driveshaft inside the axle. These quite often leak. It comes out of the end of the stub axle on 2 out of 4 corners on my disco. Instant gasket round the hub flanges keeps my wheels clean

Thanks very much for the replies folks. And thanks for the links Cipx, very helpful indeed.
Thankfully I have a large car port and garage and a willing helper in the shape of me Dad
Will have to do without the engine hoist but ramps, jacks and mechanical know how I can put my hands on! I'm relatively new to LR's (Had mine nearly 2 years but has been very reliable), but used to be a mechanic until I wised up and got a cleaner job

Hi all, great forum. I only discovered it a few days ago, been engrossed ever since going through a couple of years worth of threads. I'm really popular at home now
I hope this is not too much of a breach in etiquette but I have posted about this topic on another forum before discovering this one. Unfortunately responses have been slow to come so far.
My problem is this:
I spotted a small drip from the bell housing wade plug hole around 3 weeks ago, decided to monitor it. Appears to be ATF.
Shortly after this my O/S trailing arm bracket snapped when coming home from work which led to an axle swap. This kind of pushed concern for the drip to the back of my mind.
With a replacement axle on and sorted, I went to renew my MOT yesterday. Amazingly it passed but whilst there dropped about half a litre of ATF on the workshop floor - again from the plug hole.
I have spoken to a local specialist who says it can only be the input shaft oil seal, around £200 plus vat to replace.
As reasonable as this seems, I'm the new Dad of a little girl (1 week and 2 days ) and I begrudge paying £200 for anything that I can do myself. Has anyone here tackled this job, and if so have you got any advice to pass along? Also, do you agree with the diagnosis?
I have also been advised to check my gearbox breather as this could be the possible cause of the problem.
All advice gratefully received,
Stu. (1994 300Tdi)

Hi Les, hi all.
I had some similar experiences to you recently when "teaching" myself to weld. I found this website quite helpful:
Good luck with your training

Don't forget to tighten the pulley bolt up to 80Nm + 90 deg
Without the special tool you won't manage it. Sell it quickly before the pulley falls off and wrecks the crankshaft.
Hi Jim.
Can you tell me what you mean by the special tool, I'm planning on replacing my cambelt as a service item pretty soon. I've done a few over the years but not on a landy.

Disco 300Tdi.
Rear suspension upper link bolts = 1 3/16" AF socket.
Upper link to ball joint = 19mm sockets both sides and can be vey tough to split.
Rear suspension trailing arm chassis mounts = 1 3/16" AF socket.
Rear suspension trailing arm to axle = 24mm socket.
300Tdi rear caliper bolts (12 sided) have an m12 thread and do not fit 200Tdi axles, they're too big. Need 1 size smaller but in Imperial, if that makes sense.

Yep. Im not complaining but mine sailed thru with half a dozen faults. None of them make the vehicle unsafe in the real world but they're still fails. MOT man has a LW and is LR nuts
