  1. Well, I didn't see many with the wheel on the right! There are a lot of old ones too. People like them I reckon... Now, seriously, a lot of them get stolen in the UK? I think I'll keep my good old club across the wheel then.
  2. Ok, ok, here are some pictures! I have the feeling the number of New Defenders on the road varies greatly from country to country. I didn't see any in France and Germany, but each time I drive in Czechia I see one on the road! Does anyone have access to European sales by country?
  3. Really? What do you want to see? The car is quite standard honestly.
  4. Big news: We got our D250 (110, 7 seats, white roof!) about 2 weeks ago and after more than 4,000km across Europe, I can tell it is a great truck! After driving the "Old" Defender for more than 15 years (and before that an old Range Rover and even a Series 3), I am confident to say the feeling of driving this new car is quite similar with the previous one. Except it's smooth, comfortable, quiet, and powerful. And it consumes less (about 9-10 l/100km) than the old one! In terms of design, I admit the front part of the car isn't so wonderful, but the overall silhouette and the back are "Defender" in spirit and shape. The driving has proved very good, and the little green-laning and off-roading I tried was even absurdly easy. But, hey, the whole point is to pass everywhere, no said we had to suffer! I'm still discovering what does what and I might have questions for those of you who know more about the car. So far, one little thing I find not good is the windscreen wipers with the spray attached to them. It doesn't clean well the windscreen and I really don't know what benefit it brings us. The third-row seats are also for people with short legs... We knew that and don't plan on using them daily. So, overall, great car, I'm a very happy driver.
  5. Hi everyone, About to celebrate the 16th birthday of our good old Defender 110, we are seriously considering getting a new one (if the banker is nice). I've tested it, on and off road, the car is good, no doubt. The fuel consumption seems decent and at last there seems to be a delivery date available (8-10 months). We plan for a 7 seats (grand parents can't drive anymore) and some simple options (tow ball, heated front seats, lane assist). Now, the real question is which power? - D200 seems a little too weak for perform well; - D300 is quite more expensive, drives faster but I don't buy such car to race. => How about the D250? Is it a good compromise, or is it the right car? Please share your experience and thoughts. What are the main pros and cons of the 3 models?
  6. The Grenadier is now officially off my short list to replace my 2007 Defender. The test drive (carried out by an expert profesional driver) was very good and the car has many nice features. But: - The shape isn't really good-looking (when facing it, it looks heavy, unlike the Defender) - The fuel consumption is crazy (about 12l/100km for diesel and a whooping 15l/100km for petrol) is making it a dinosaur in today's world. The New Defender is increasingly winning my heart. I see so many on the road around here (Czechia), I trust they are winking at me!
  7. Well, I'm one of them! Just today, I recevied another email urging me to sign up and pay 450€ although the car isn't available in my country yet! If Ineos doesn't offer more meat in their messages, I don't know how long I'll be showing interest.
  8. So far, when checking their site, I see the truck is proposed in only 8 countries: Australia, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, UK and US. Many, many countries are missing and after several years of teasing it is worrying to realize Ineos doesn't seem to have dealerships agreements in more places by now. I don't know for you, but it's impossible for me to consider ordering such vehicle without trying it. Before worrying about warranty, I'd like to know where I can test the beast. So far, there seems to be no option in the country I live in (CZ). Zero chance I'll cough 450£ for reserving it! Also, we seem to know very little about key technical features such as average consumption, maximum speed on regular roads, maintenance costs etc. If anyone has details about any of this, please share. I am still moderatly interested in replacing my 2007 Defender with the Grenadier, but the prices I read (from 60,000€ to 80,000€ in eco-punishing France) make me reconsider the new Defender (maybe not a brand new one) as an option.
  9. I have three criteria I need Grenadier to clear out, before any leap of faith: - The price (I expect less than 50,000€ for a properly equipped truck) - The fuel consumption (less than 10l per 100km) - The maintenance network (BMW?) and the maintenance cost (not more than the current Defender). After, I like the idea of creating a new car answering the challenge of a "modern Defender" (which the new one isn't). Combining British entrepreneurship spirit with Austrian engineers and French assembly team seems like an interesting mix.
  10. I think it was the top range, the P400. Big beast. In Czechia, based on a conservative choice of options, the price tag is over 60,000€. I remember our brand new 110 costed (in Russia in 2007) les than 40,000€ with practically all the options... PS: Glad to hear the gas consumption isn't too high. I have readd it was "drinking like a fish" (https://arstechnica.com/cars/2021/02/the-land-rover-defender-rugged-charming-but-drinks-like-a-fish/).
  11. Some time in Fall, after asking for technical details about the car, the dealer spontaneously proposed me a test-drive. Among wannabe clients of the new Defender, it seems I was the only one currently owning one (our dear 2007's Puma. I also used to own a Range Rover and rusty Series 3). On the road, the car behaves like any modern, large, powerful car of today. Nothing special, it feels like a Range Rover... The dealer proposed me to go off-road, saying no-one asked before. I accepted of course, and he brought me to a very hilly off-road terrain, not far from my house (he didn't know). I could then compare with my 110. The car went effortless to all the crazy ups and downs. No need for driving skills, just press the pedal! We even went down a very steep and narrow path I wouldn't have dared to go alone with my 110. No problem, the truck went like... a tank! So, long story short, what's my opinion: - The car is too big. Too wide, too long. This beast wouldn't fit my garage! Honestly, it looks OK, but it doesn't remind much of the real thing. Just another big, plush 4X4. - It drinks too much. I find it crazy - in 2020- to launch a vehicle which consumes MORE than its predecessor! I expected less than 10l/100km, we're FAR from this. - It is too expensive. I like the 110 version with a few options, the price tag is simply out of reach for me. (I'm also afraid the insurance and maintenance will be expensive) Conclusion? I will not buy a new Defender. NB: A new girl in town is winking at me, her name? Grenadier. I'd definitely go on a date with this one, and maybe more if the boxes are ticked.
  12. Thank you for the information. We've changed our kaput LR radio some years ago and got a Pioneer DEH-S300BT. I'm still using CDs and enjoy listenting to them in the Defender.
  13. Interesting fact: I've asked my trusted LR service guys, and while they are of course able to order for me a (pricey) pair of new speakers, they were unable to tell the power of if the speakers in question. Anyone knows the power of the regular speakers (as displayed in my picture)?
  14. Hi everyone, Since my kids have turned on the volume in the CD player of our Defender 2007, the sound isn't right. Not that it was great before, but still. The basses beats sound like a empty cardboard and it isn't pretty. The serial number is XQM 500550 45EM805 and I found an (expensive) equivalent on LR Direct. Yet, I am sure I can find a good substitute out of the LR genuine parts .Any brand would do I reckon. Any suggestion what to look for? I don't need anything special, just a robust pair of speakers. Brand, characterisitcs, any tip is welcome!
  15. Funny you say that. In my quest to find a replacement to our beautiful Defender, the second one on the list is the Kodiaq. Indeed it ticks all the boxes, including the 7 seats. It is also much cheaper than the new Defender. Of course, it doesn't look as good as the old Defender, but I can't make up my mind about the new one until I'll see it for real. If only the D3/D4 was still produced, I'd probably add it on the list. Alas the new ones are so ugly, looking like some sort of melted balloon. And the price. Of dear, so expensive to buy and so expensive to maintain....
