  1. Hi, I have +2 inch springs and shocks terrafirma on my 90 on standard front shock mounts. the front springs are HD for my pto winch and im not happy with the articulation im getting. ive been looking at getting some +5 shocks and using my +2 springs. question is what else will I have to change to make them work? ive read about tubeular front shock mounts and dislocation cones etc. I have standard radius and trailing arms and new standard props and currently no dislocation cones. I have +2 inch braided brake hoses, will they be long enough to cope with the new articulation? if anyone is running this setup id be interested what results you get from it. thanks.
  2. e reg defender, I need the part number for the bolts on the pto cover. id like to find out what thread they are so I can order a stud and nut conversion to correctly fit my pto drop box without any leaks. ta
  3. still stuck with this. I got bolts and managed to get them to fit. cant remember what size. months later the gasket has decided to leak oil badly. local landy garage wants £100 to fit a replacement. I just cant face doing it again. its a pig of a job top do without a pit or ramp. I think stud and nut conversion would be the way forward. can anyone shed any light on the size thread and length needed? also is it worth doubling up gaskets/making my own thin rubber one/using sealent instead/instant gasket? thanks
  4. is the above an mot failure? its for a disco 200 conversion into my defender. the chassis rail is crowded with pas pipes and I cant be bothered to mess about with them again. some pics of what you have may inspire some ideas. thanks.
  5. m14x25 jumps out of parts list.. hmm
  6. finally almost finished fitting h14 winch yesterday and the bolts that held the pto cover on the rear of my transfer case don't seem to be long enough to bolt up the drop box properly, it feels like there only in a few threads and would rip the thread out if I tried to tighten anymore. the drop box gear engages freely and is fitted up tight with the correct gasket, so any ideas on the bolt size I need to go get today? thanks
  7. hi, anyone have any experience of the above tyres? im looking at buying 265/75/16 off ebay and thought id ask before I do. thanks.
  8. hi, where can I get a new one and the bits that hold it in the front of the shaft where it goes into the back of the winch? cheers
  9. Yes off an E reg 90 standard drum brake rear axle. I've only ever renewed the brakes the outer seal and nipped up the bearings
  10. need a bit of help with the above, fitted a new diff and drive flanges last night. filled it with oil and its all leaked out on the road as I park half on a curb. will it be ; the inner seal in the back plate, the outer seal, could be the rubber cap on the end of the shaft but these are quite new I used new drive flange gaskets so it cant be there. the leak looks as if its coming from the bearing/inside the drum area. any thoughts/tips? ive read about seals around the end of the halfshaft but couldn't see any when I stripped them last night :s
  11. Early 90 with one of those big nasty 4 spoke truck wheels. Its on a wrong angle and I want to correct it until I've ordered my replacement smaller wheel and boss kit. Need to remove the truck wheel to count the splines, either 36 or 48 I'm told, but that's another issue. Looks like someone has tried and failed before as they have broken off one of the studs in the hole on the steering wheel for pulling it off. So I drill it out and re-tap with an m6 thread same that fit down the other side. Made a puller and it will not budge. Tried a few blows with the hammer to the rear of the wheel and managed to break my headlight switch.. another job to sort now. But anyway can't get it off. Any tips or do I threaten it with the grinder?
  12. Mine does this, I know my rear diff input/pinion bearings are shagged. Maybe check your diffs?
  13. Tidy. Am having some issues with rear brake/sidelights so if its just plug and play I'll swap the loom. Suspect its chaffed or something
  14. I've just read this is possible to do. Where are the plugs located so I can get on and replace mine? Cheers
