Thanks for the replies guys, miketomcat I was hoping that by fitting Defender mirrors they would stick out far enough to not need extension mirrors
Plus the Disco 1 300Tdi mirrors while being bigger than the earlier 200Tdi they are convex & I hate things behind me looking so small.

Is it possible to fit Defender door mirrors to a Discovery 1 I use the Disco for towing a caravan & just wondered if it's possible so I don't have to keep fitting towing extension mirrors that are a pain in the bum to fit & set up each time I tow the van.
My reasoning is that the Defender mirrors would protrude far enough to give good rearward vision past the caravan.
Has anyone done this or is it just not possible

Hi all I'm getting a loud ticking / rattling noise from the front brakes on my 300 Tdi Disco 1995/6 it has solid disc's with pads similar to those fitted to vented disc's I have fitted new retaining pins & springs but the noise is still there if you jack it up & rotate the wheel backwards & forwards you can see the pads are chattering to & froe in the caliper, has anyone else had this problem & has anyone found a cure I have been told it should have the springs & a set of shim type anti rattle springs fitted as well but I can only find the pins & springs I have already, oh if you apply slight pressure to the brake pedal when driving the noise stops which makes me believe it is the pads causing the noise.
Please help the noise is doing my head in LOL

Hi all is it possible to just replace one wiper spindle on the front wipers of a Disco 1my N/s wiper spindle has started to show signs of excessive wear, if it is possible does anyone know the part number & a supplier please.

Thanks for that Western the top ones are what I have by the look of them but no wires fitted on mine, mine rattle like hell in the calipers even though I have fitted new springs & pins so I figure the edge of the pads have worn away as there were no springs fitted when I bought the vehicle just hope it's not the calipers that have worn away.

Hi all can anyone help with the part number for the front brake pads on my Disco 1 300 Tdi please it's an'N' reg 1996 according to the Vin number, I need new front pads but the local factors all say I have got vented front disc's but the vehicle has solid disc's my pads are secured by 2 pins with split pins to secure them, they also have 2 long springs that the pins pass through I think this is whats confusing the local factors because when they bring up what looks like my pads they say their for vented discs only on a V8 Disco

Could be the roofs have been sealed shut to stop water ingress & then immobilized

Rear wiper wont work with the drivers door open it's a Land Rover thing the rear windows could be a dry solder joint in the window ECU which is fitted behind the glove box there is a way of putting the MFU into a self checking mode but you would have to search the forums for the sequence it's on here as I used it to check mine door mirrors could be the change over switch ( this was faulty on mine ) just sprayed it with contact cleaner

Hi has anyone got an exploded view of the internals of a starter motor for a 300Tdi Disco I need to see the electrical part ie the brushes etc

Don't think you will find any, as if they didn't have the roof rails as standard then they didn't have holes in the roof panel mine doesn't have the rails so no holes you may have to either weld the holes up or patch from inside using Sikaflex sealant & stick plates of either steel or aluminum over the holes

Yes , Al your right that's the bolt I need can't get the old one un-done feels like it will shear off if I try any harder so far have tried an 18" & 24" knuckle bar but I fear it will shear if I pull on it any more wish I had access to an air gun but I don't

But can I remove it without causing any problems ??

OK so is it really necessary as mine is a bit oil soaked plus why the length of Bowden cable going from one side to the other ??

Right on my 96 Disco 300TDi where the steering damper attaches to the axle mount there is a what looks like a 6" rubber wheel attached to a bracket but I can't see any reason for it to be there any idea the MOT man today said he thinks it's an anti vibration thingy but wasn't sure he also said it was only fitted to the 300TDi not the 200TDi
Oh & it failed the MOT on a sheared off ball joint on the o/s/r anti roll bar drop link with a couple of other minor advisories .

Is it possible or has anyone fitted alpine windows from a Disco 2 into a Disco 1 , I know the D2 alpines are bonded in & that's why I was wondering if the D2 alpine windows will fit the D1 so as to dispense with the rubber seals

The Wife's Volvo V50 has a green LED fitted in the roof light, it shines down into the passengers foot well good idea, going to get some fitted in the Disco1 soon
