  1. if only it where that simple ,he wanted letter from bf goodrich stating the bleeding obvious.once had to go for a retest due to removing centre seat. funny thing is they've never checked some thing as obvious as the seat belts ,all the times I've been throu. god knows how you get a one off Harley through the test.
  2. completely anal about any minor deviation from bog standard here in Spain.fitted 235/85 tyres on my defender from 205s .have been told I needed a letter from bf goodrich stating tyres have same or higher speed rating, same or superior weight capacity etc etc Found it's easier to swap wheels for itv test .hint hint
  3. my 1989 chassis is perfect .I can still see the original stamp marks from production ,but I've owned it for several years and before that it was in Valencia area..we don't do salt on the roads here, the climate is a lot kinder on all vehicles.
  4. Range rover classic seats will fit with minimal hassle ,the track width is the same..just cut and drill 20mm box section to match the existing holes in the seat box.use threaded bar then a nut to lock them down, then the box section, welded to the runners on the seat.butterfly nuts to fasten them down for quick removal.you can just about slot bungees ,ropes etc in the gap between seat and seat box.lovely and comfy and keeping it in the family so too speak.
  5. if it´s painlessly slow i wouldn´t bother changing it ,however if it´s painfully slow which i imagine it is rip, it out , you won ´t regret it
  6. if poss get underneath and have a good poke around, look at the oil filter ,does it look newish?is it genuine?,small things like this can suggest a more caring previous owner.at the end of the day its 15 years old and most cars of this age are long gone.rust is the biggest killer as the motors are pretty good i love em to bits ,but better with v8 power!
  7. at long last i´m fitting my,200tdi in my na110.all going along swimmingly ,many thanks to your tech articles, they have been a brilliant source of info, written with humour and detail and have inspired me to tackle what is a big old job for me.only prob i have is wiring up starter motor. from what i understand mains battery lead and two sets of brown leads go to big stud on top of starter solenoid and exiter wire to spade connection .the other short red goes from sol to starter motor and is as from the disco(i haven´t touched it).when ever i try to connect the battery, sparks fly and there´s a clack clack noise coming from starter motor area. there is no key in the ignition by the way. what am i doing wrong, please help cheers. jon
