  1. It was: PJ Motors (Sevenoaks) Ltd Unit 3 Brookside Business Units London Road Hildenborough Tonbridge Kent TN11 9ND Gary, the boss, was a real professional in his service and customer care.
  2. Update, as such. The guys at the garage did the job for me. They even did all the paperwork and went to collect the parts from a distant town. They tested it all before I took it away, as did I. Was given all the old parts, just in case it happens again they might be handy. Drove about 2 miles down the road then suddenly, BANG!!! The window exploded without notice or even as a result of hitting a bump! Nearly had a heart attack Autoglass wanted to come out 3 days later! My insurance company suggested that evening, which they did. So now I have a new regulator and window. Just in case you're wondering the garage sent me a cheque to cover the excess for the new window.
  3. Last Sunday afternoon, A2 towards London just passing Gravesend, I took a double look as a 52 plated Borrego Yellow Freelander overtook me!!! Nearly waved but then I remembered I was driving my daughter's '68 Morris Minor... So I think that makes it 4 out and about.
  4. Matt, Might have a result, as such. At least a fix for now. Took it to the showroom's garage and they had a look. As you said I could see they removed the screws on the lower edge and then he pulled on the bottom corners, then the top corners at which the panel came away. He used a razor blade to peel back the membrane. I was in a waiting/viewinf area so didn't see the damaged regulator but he said it would need replacing as the wire had snapped and damaged some of the sleeving as well. So that I could use the car, the back window has been open since it happened, he fixed it in the up postion with a section of plactic pipe cut with a v shape to hold the glass. Works well. The membrane looked as if it just restuck when he replaced it. He took just a couple of taps with his fists to replace the trim, must have done it before... It will be booked in early next week to have a new regulator fitted, both the mechanic and showroom salesman says it will be covered by the warranty. I will keep the details of the replacement wire place in Washington as I feel this may happen again sometime down the road. Thanks for your help & suggestions. Alan
  5. Hi Matt. Thanks for that, I'll have a look in the morning. Just the sort of info I needed! Do I take it the top part of the trim where the window comes out, that has the bolts each end, can stay put? Cheers, Alan
  6. Need advice/direction as to getting the tailgate interior trim removed so that I can replace the window regulator wires. I have read the sections on here about working on the regulator/wires but nothing about the trim. I have downloaded RAVE but it looks a maze of info but I can't see a section on trim removal. Any pointers?? I'm hoping I won't have to do the job as having owned the vehicle just over 3 weeks the warranty should cover it but as I haven't seen it yet it may not cover this job. The regulator was done by the previous owner in Sept but a) the main dealer who supplied the unit only gave 6 mths warranty and b) the workshop won't transfer their guarantee... I believe the wire has snapped or nipple has torn off because when I tried to close the window I heard a loud bang. The window continued to close but when I tried to open it again it just dropped open. The motor sounds like it is working. I'm having it looked at by the dealers I bought it off tomorrow morning, hopefully they will cover the repairs but if not I will get a set of wires from 'Electric Windows Repairs' in Washington, Tyne and Wear and do the job myself. Just need to know what not to pull off or snap whilst getting at the parts! Thanks
  7. This is a puzzle to me. I know several people who have put diesel engines into Morris Minors and DVLC have changed their V5 to show this. My Morris Van was converted to a flat bed pick-up and this is also shown on the V5. Unless it is a 'ringer' I see no reason why DVLC shouldn't change the V5. The only problem is having the request in front of the right person and not just a computer that says no... Good luck, interested in hearing what happens.
  8. Thanks Jonners, that's 2 on a list (or half as rare as I thought...) I agree that every car has its good and bad points and I only heard about the K series head being an issue after I bought Bumble. Lucky for me it was done last November so here's looking at some stress free motoring. This is the only LR forum I have joined. I'm very active on the Morris Minor Owners forum which is a good mix of down to earth folk who love Moggys in any condition. Where as an 'official' club forum is soooo up its self that members have hissy fits if you use the wrong washer, let alone a K series or Zetec engine...
  9. Thanks for your reply Steve, glad to hear they're not too important. I'll keep a look out or hopefully someone may find a spare set hiding in their garage. Any info re part number would be welcome, although I'd hate to think what the local LR dealership would charge for supplying...
  10. The Owner's Handbook under Softback 'folding/unfolding' shows a 'side cover' (see attach.) that slides onto the lower body trim when the softback is open and removed when the softback is closed. My secondhand softback kit does not have these two rubber trims and it appears the seller used the kit without. When closed the trim is not needed so I guess the top functions OK without it. This would suggest it is cosmetic when the top is open. Can anyone tell me if these cover trims are available to buy, where from and whether it really matters. Many thanks, Alan
  11. Thanks for all your help and the link. I guess it's always nerve racking drilling into a shiney bit of paintwork. When I added the towbar to my old X-Trail the first cut into the bumber was a giant leap of faith! Any additional black trim would go well with the yellow so I might go ahead with it later, when I'm feeling brave.... I was thinking about getting clear headlight covers and adding beam deflectors on them for travel in Europe. I had a set for the X-Trail and was a great bonus, quick and easy to change whilst waiting at the port. I would still be interested to hear from anyone else who may own or see a Borrego Yellow Freelander. I'm beginning to wonder how rare the combo is.
  12. Quite a few 'extras' on yours, no wonder it turns heads! I have back light guards I can add but I'm not sure about the front ones, I don't want to drill the holes it appears they need to be fitted...
  13. Thanks for that information, always good to learn more about the vehicle. I gave it a good drive out tonight to collect a soft-top for it. Drove very well, very pleased! I must admit the colour has turned some heads whilst I've been driving about. The car is in very good cosmetic condition. Inside looks like new, just a few very minor knocks on the inside ridge of the back door. The paintwork may not be all original, possibly resprayed at sometime. The paintwork looks in showroom condtion and if I wasn't doing a vehicle restoration course I may not have spotted some very small tale-tale signs but having said that I'd be very happy if I had managed such a finish. Hadn't thought of tinting the windows, the yellow and black go so well with each other. Food for thought. I wonder if there was ever a record of the numbers privately sold in Borrego Yellow?
  14. Hi Folks, newbie to forum and first time Land Rover owner here. This week I bought a 2003 Freelander Kalihari 1.8 decked out in Borrego Yellow (paint code 757 shown on vin plate). To say the least it does stand out especally as it doesn't have either 'AA' or 'BAA Gatwick' plastered all over its sides! This appears to have always been in private ownership so someone ordered it like this. My question is how many where made for private use in Borrego Yellow and how rare is it now?
