  1. As above. Fitted some Teflon afew years ago. Had replace the bearings again a year later for some timkin ones tho. No problems since. Very happy.
  2. Halfords paint is good. I used red oxide and chassis black on the underside, tho on top of the old paint. Still there 5 years later.
  3. I haven't put a lift on mine and have got places modified landys haven't. Tho down to inexperienced drivers. I don't need a lift. Tho if the lift was already fitted id probably leave it. I used to run 265 75 16 special tracks but have switched to 7.50s ultragrips.
  4. Iv done the same when I rebuilt mine. Replaced everything. I think the new engine mounts are the problem on mine. After 5 years theyve cracked alot and the noise is all but gone. Its a harsher ride with polybushes tho. Lots of complaints about the new engine mounts being harsh and causing whining noises.
  5. I reckon if you put rubber under them and under bonnet chequer plate it would reduce engine noise abit.
  6. Iv got the same problem with mine. 1.2 box on an old 200tdi engine with 161k on the clock. Its just so gutless, really am thinking about going back to 1.4 box. I have to use low ratio sometimes when towing. Im gonna try some injector cleaner. Hopefully that will help abit. Done the timing belt shes well serviced aswell. Have also been considering smaller tyres. Would be quicker to walk up most of the hills.
  7. Good luck getting gearbox parts for the td4, we gave after trying to get loads of bearings to fit and bought a second hand gearbox on ebay. But hopefully its only your viscous coupling bearings.
  8. Mines really drafty i didnt really know how to line the body back up when i rechassised her but iv since put a foam strip around it as a temporarily solution which is working well and also stuffing the heater box with closed cell foam has helped to get the heat on. And filling the holes in the bulkhead aswell. It gets too hot under 35-40mph but gets cooler the faster i drive cause of the drafts. It is a land rover after all.
  9. That looks great in black. That would be more in keeping with my land rover.
  10. I was thinking of this using my old sack truck and attaching a battery to it and using some heavy duty wire and decent clamps to attach to the cars, lawn mower, dumper and mini digger batteries and attaching it to the sack trolley battery with car battery ternminals and putting this on the positive side to isolate it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-CAR-Battery-Isolator-Cut-Off-Switch-/230825055786?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35be3ed62a Then its just a case of charging it with the battery charger. It will also mean il have a decent spare battery and a very good way of jump starting are cars.
  11. When i rebuilt my 90 i bought 4 rear springs. I have a very heavy winch bumper. To heavy really. But this made a world of difference so go for it. It also makes the ride feel much better. Tho my 20 year old springs were properly cream crackered and when used to brake hard the tyres would touch the wing archs.
  12. You can get something to make it stay harder when it gets older aswell.
  13. You can also excite the alternator by touching the terminals together. I only found this out the other day when my dad had troubles with his beetle and someone done this for us. Tho you need to do it everytime you switch the car off. Its worth remebering.
  14. Mine want start flat battery, so think yourelf lucky lol.
