  1. Mine failed on the seats not being able to be secured in an upright position a few weeks ago. Its ex mod and has military seats so I just bolted an L shaped bracket to the bulkhead and used short screws to attach the seat backs to the bracket.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys, just got in from swapping it over. What a job! Those PAS pulley bolts were on so tight it took my body weight to undo them. Of course I fell into the engine bay when it eventually went and cracked my knee on my winch! In the end I used two sockets which meant I was left with one bolt on tight. I got a belt strap for the ratchet and managed to undo the third using that but it was so awkward to do. I also had to undo my bottom intercooler hose since it was blocking the way to get the alternator in or out. Then I struggled getting the new alternator on, nothing was going right. Talk about an easy job that wasn't!
  3. Ahh glad to know it's not only me suffering! That makes sense it being a disco item, its got quite a few other disco bits on it. I tried getting the pas bolts off but it just spins the pulley even with the belt on. The belt strap is a good idea, I could do with one anyway. I only have the bare minimum of tools at the moment, sockets and spanners.
  4. Hi all My defender's battery light started coming on more regularly so I decided to swap the alternator for a new one. It seemed a simple enough job but I've got stuck taking the lower bolt off. Clearance is tight but I managed to get a spanner on it but I can only get it out so far. The bolts now hitting the PAS pulley and won't come out any further. I don't think this is normal is it? Forgot to say the Defender is a 94 ex mod retrofitted with the 300 tdi.
