  1. LOL!!! Thanks! I learned long ago that Rovers are like women. Just don 't ask. Just order what they want; and always get the best. A happy rover is a faithful rover. Or was that for women...
  2. Fridge; Like you said; I'm a sick man. You didn't know that by now? LOL! So it looks like the 100" would be the way to go. Thanks guys. Keeps me from having to cut, weld, strengthen the existing frame. That saves time. And on to planning the next step, lol.
  3. It will just be used as an off-roader over here in the states. No competition use. My DII is too expensive to break all of the time, so has been relegated to Recon work, and trailblazing. My Series is more of a mud-bogger design. Really tall, parabolics, SOA, 35"'s. I am looking for something I can get a heck of a lot of axle articulation out of, while still keeping the CoG as low as possible. Also, whereas I kept the series "pure" by keeping a 4 pot; the TomCat will be powered by the 4.0 I took out of my DII, when I did the 4.6 conversion. So a V8 with carburetor conversion, and hopefully a manual transmission if I can source one.
  4. Well; I hope I am posting this in the section that will get the most input. I just purchased a 1990 RRC chassis, in preparation to build a Tomcat. I have narrowed down the ones I like to the 88" or the 100". I don't really like the looks or the reasons behind the 106" for my intended use. The 80" is too short for what I want, and te 93" is for the D90 chassis. Can owners, or those with the knowledge give me some Pros / Cons and opinions on the ToCat 8and TomCat 100, please. I would like to pick one over the other based on the issues/mistakes/knowledge of tose before me. Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.
  5. Excuse my ignorance, Phil; since I'm on the wrong side of the pond. A lot of good references historicaly wise aren't available. Can we start with definitions of what you've listed? I am assuming front is 4.7, but metric diff(?), confuses me. I know from posting on here that it is 24 spline outer, 10 spline inner. But anything else? And as far as the rear; what is a standard 8HA???
  6. Took these axles out of a scrapped 81' SIII 109". Looking to see if I can get any more information, based on the numbers stamped into them. Thanks in advance. The numbers and markings on the front axle are as follows: C80 1258, and 91117544 E. The markings on the Rear Salsbury axle are: LEYS 3A, and C8HA 004 17D.
  7. I've got a 78' SIII 109" with 5.5" wides, and an 81' SIII 109" with 6" wides, both stock. There must be a changeover somewhere, or spec sheet. The 88" had 5" wide on the IIa's, at least on my 68'. Hope this helps.
  8. Personally; I would go with a 7" wide rim for a 235. Even though it is true they will fit on narrower rims, a 5.5 would be dangerous, and a 6" just on the edge safety wise. Also if you did end up going off road in the future, a 235 on a 6" aired down is asking for beads to pop. I personally like the look of the Nato wheels on Series trucks, but that's my .02 cents.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. I really like the look of the Zeus, but if problems have been found with them, customer support across the pond is probably pretty rough. As far as the Haystee kit; it looks to be well engineered, but maybe not enough so for a dedicated off-roader. I really like the look of his power steering kit. The big "off" for me on his discs was the sourcing of Santana parts, which are high near unfindable here. The Rovers North kit is set up front and rear using Defender 90 front and rear calipers and discs, and still using all series bearings/races. So parts availability is pretty good.
  10. I need the discs front & rear on this because of the amount of deep mud, and deep water this rig will be spending much time in. The trails around here are regularly flooded with 24-36 inches of water. Between that and pushing 35" tires, the discs are needed, not wanted.
  11. It looks like maybe the Zeus kit would work, and also the one from Rovers North, by Proline. RN says that there's is for all SII and SIII rears, including 109's, which would mean Sals. But they can't say for sure if anyone has ever done it to a Sals, and had it work. I really don't want to be their guinea pig. Will wait until my email is replied to by Zeus, and go from there.
  12. Quote you? Never... The rear end must be converted to discs! Must... I want four wheel discs, darn it.
