  1. I think the cost was north of £10k when I saw one advertised, may have come down....

    However one concern was raised is that by using a laser the surface of the steel is heated causing some oxidation, which you would still have to clean off before welding, ideally, or other processes.

    A good sand blast is better, IMHO.

    No, my mind immediately went to dropping it off at and engine rebuilders for a quick skim for ~£40.

    Having seen this done, the usual route seems to be to remove the seats, weld it up and then re-cut the space for the seats and insert new ones, and then cut to depth.

    Or are you just going to drill it out and blast it with AC TIG and hope?
