  2. Thats not what I really wanted to hear at the minute but I think it may make more finanical sense Hi Nige, She's a P reg but built in early 97 Model well thats one that for some strange reason I have never knew or tried to find out ! It has full electric windows / no sunroofs / did have air con until I removed it for the larger intercooler all still intact and will go with the possible sale as it worked great before hand, not sure of the other spec required to determine the model ??? sure I'll find out soon enough As for the body there is the usual green lane scrapes / bonnet hinge is ever so slightly twisted which upon close inspection the bonnet seems to be ajar but this is not the case it locks down completly / tiny dent above nearside headlight / rear upper arches have been welded where they rust / sills are fine protected by jackable rock - tree sliders that I forgot to mention earlier / rear boot floor is completly fine / footwells good and dry / and the chassis is second to none even the MOT inspector commented on the condition of this ! She really is a very good motor and has only let me down once..........the other week when the alternator packed in the night before a camping trip and that too has now been replaced with a new one ! Not sure if I have missed anything else that needs to be mentioned but please feel free to ask more questions guys I,m straight down the middle and all viewings are very welcome Thanks Dougie

  4. Hi guys, I have a fuel leak around the above mentioned parts ??? It seems to be once the enginge has been turned off and there is a hissing / pressure relief sound from the aformentioned area and then a few seconds later I'll see fuell dripping out ???? I have kept a close eye on it when the engine is ticking over and being revved and there does not seem to be any leakege at this time ? Any idea's ? TIA Dougie
  5. OK thats an option i,m sure........So who wants what? Its all gotta go Dougie
  6. Similar to what you said Dougie
  7. You reckon?? Thought ity was worth a bit more than that even with 'iffy ' engine ?? Is that all they worth now ? Thought the wheels / tyres and axels would have been worth that alone?? Dougie
  8. OK here goes, my mate has been given alot of bad advice down the line and as much as i would love to help him out i simply do not have the time He has a 1995 M Reg Disco dark grey ( not sure specfic colour) all the panels are straight Its a nice car and he's gutted about getting shut but needs must He had a problem with it a while back and was told it was the head gasket had gone ! Not sure that this was the case to be honest and again not sure if it actually got replaced with the proper grade / size gasket at all!! At the time i noticed that a couple of the rocker cover bolts were lose these were in due course tightened up and it has ran a dream for a few thousand miles after that, then It has started to make a 'noise' Mike then got it home ASAP it has since sat on his drive and he has been given a load of Bulls1t over the phone from a load of different sources !!! He has been offered silly money by a local reputable outlet I belive it to be worth alot more than they have offered Here's the link that he has hidden away on E-bay Please feel free to call mike or me 0797067364 or M me if you have any questions and let me know what the best thing to do with it would be??? TIA Dougie
  9. A bit more than when they are not fitted with tyres Sorry could not resist Why do you need to know anyway ??? i am now intriged to find out?? Regards DOugie
  10. Now this i have not heard of before ?? Will check the bearings again asap but never 'tapped' anything back when i did the bearings?? But then i have done quite a few miles since the bearing change and the brake issue was not apparent from the start, i would presume from what you are saying that it would be straight away after the change?? Thanks again guys its a real help to get a broader range of ideas for me to go at this weekend when i get chance to look at it. Dougie
  11. They are good mate TIMKIN's not that old and regulary checked, I have had that issue when you get back 'on road' some times and the pads have been rattling around and it takes a couple of pumps to re seat them but this is different The ABS kicks in too ? Cheers Dougie
  12. http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DISCOVERY_...p_-_300TDI.html OUCH !!! O well better than the OUCH if i hit a tree i suppose Dougie
  13. Have done a quick search but nothing answered my question. Intermittintly my Disco has a brake issue, always when first started up or within a mile (could be first time i press the brake?) but the pedal goes soft and it sounds as if the ABS is kicking in and although the brakes come on they seem to be very poor, After a couple of pumps of the pedal all is well again and back to what i belive to be very good brakes. Any ideas guys?? Servo? Vaccum pump What you thiink TIA Dougie
  14. Hi Kev, I am pretty sure there is a post on here somewhere because i have used or instigated it! I also doused the linkedge that you see underneath with easol and WD40 etc etc to no avail, I then found that the actual siezure was in the diff knob mech The way to sort it is to expose the mech in question by taking away the gator's and canny remember if i had to take the centre console out (think i did) but any way there is some 10mm bolts that need removing and you can take the complete mech out and put in the vice so you can service it and make sure you pile it full of some decent grease when you are done. Also make a note / mark on the shaft where it comes off the linkage so it saves time messing about after wards making sure its back in the same place ! (guess how i know this???) Any way that will be whats wrong with it and i,m sure somebody else will post after this that has not got a belly full of cider like me and will make it a bit clearer for you !! Cheers Dougie
  15. i,m sure someone may correct me but do the seals on the rear high level windows on the corner of the roof and side of the car not fail on these and send water dripping down in all directions?? just a thought you may like to check Dougie
