  2. Thats not what I really wanted to hear at the minute but I think it may make more finanical sense Hi Nige, She's a P reg but built in early 97 Model well thats one that for some strange reason I have never knew or tried to find out ! It has full electric windows / no sunroofs / did have air con until I removed it for the larger intercooler all still intact and will go with the possible sale as it worked great before hand, not sure of the other spec required to determine the model ??? sure I'll find out soon enough As for the body there is the usual green lane scrapes / bonnet hinge is ever so slightly twisted which upon close inspection the bonnet seems to be ajar but this is not the case it locks down completly / tiny dent above nearside headlight / rear upper arches have been welded where they rust / sills are fine protected by jackable rock - tree sliders that I forgot to mention earlier / rear boot floor is completly fine / footwells good and dry / and the chassis is second to none even the MOT inspector commented on the condition of this ! She really is a very good motor and has only let me down once..........the other week when the alternator packed in the night before a camping trip and that too has now been replaced with a new one ! Not sure if I have missed anything else that needs to be mentioned but please feel free to ask more questions guys I,m straight down the middle and all viewings are very welcome Thanks Dougie

  4. Hi guys, I have a fuel leak around the above mentioned parts ??? It seems to be once the enginge has been turned off and there is a hissing / pressure relief sound from the aformentioned area and then a few seconds later I'll see fuell dripping out ???? I have kept a close eye on it when the engine is ticking over and being revved and there does not seem to be any leakege at this time ? Any idea's ? TIA Dougie
  5. OK thats an option i,m sure........So who wants what? Its all gotta go Dougie
  6. Similar to what you said Dougie
  7. You reckon?? Thought ity was worth a bit more than that even with 'iffy ' engine ?? Is that all they worth now ? Thought the wheels / tyres and axels would have been worth that alone?? Dougie
  8. OK here goes, my mate has been given alot of bad advice down the line and as much as i would love to help him out i simply do not have the time He has a 1995 M Reg Disco dark grey ( not sure specfic colour) all the panels are straight Its a nice car and he's gutted about getting shut but needs must He had a problem with it a while back and was told it was the head gasket had gone ! Not sure that this was the case to be honest and again not sure if it actually got replaced with the proper grade / size gasket at all!! At the time i noticed that a couple of the rocker cover bolts were lose these were in due course tightened up and it has ran a dream for a few thousand miles after that, then It has started to make a 'noise' Mike then got it home ASAP it has since sat on his drive and he has been given a load of Bulls1t over the phone from a load of different sources !!! He has been offered silly money by a local reputable outlet I belive it to be worth alot more than they have offered Here's the link that he has hidden away on E-bay Please feel free to call mike or me 0797067364 or M me if you have any questions and let me know what the best thing to do with it would be??? TIA Dougie
  9. A bit more than when they are not fitted with tyres Sorry could not resist Why do you need to know anyway ??? i am now intriged to find out?? Regards DOugie
  10. Now this i have not heard of before ?? Will check the bearings again asap but never 'tapped' anything back when i did the bearings?? But then i have done quite a few miles since the bearing change and the brake issue was not apparent from the start, i would presume from what you are saying that it would be straight away after the change?? Thanks again guys its a real help to get a broader range of ideas for me to go at this weekend when i get chance to look at it. Dougie
  11. They are good mate TIMKIN's not that old and regulary checked, I have had that issue when you get back 'on road' some times and the pads have been rattling around and it takes a couple of pumps to re seat them but this is different The ABS kicks in too ? Cheers Dougie
  12. http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DISCOVERY_...p_-_300TDI.html OUCH !!! O well better than the OUCH if i hit a tree i suppose Dougie
  13. Have done a quick search but nothing answered my question. Intermittintly my Disco has a brake issue, always when first started up or within a mile (could be first time i press the brake?) but the pedal goes soft and it sounds as if the ABS is kicking in and although the brakes come on they seem to be very poor, After a couple of pumps of the pedal all is well again and back to what i belive to be very good brakes. Any ideas guys?? Servo? Vaccum pump What you thiink TIA Dougie
  14. Hi Kev, I am pretty sure there is a post on here somewhere because i have used or instigated it! I also doused the linkedge that you see underneath with easol and WD40 etc etc to no avail, I then found that the actual siezure was in the diff knob mech The way to sort it is to expose the mech in question by taking away the gator's and canny remember if i had to take the centre console out (think i did) but any way there is some 10mm bolts that need removing and you can take the complete mech out and put in the vice so you can service it and make sure you pile it full of some decent grease when you are done. Also make a note / mark on the shaft where it comes off the linkage so it saves time messing about after wards making sure its back in the same place ! (guess how i know this???) Any way that will be whats wrong with it and i,m sure somebody else will post after this that has not got a belly full of cider like me and will make it a bit clearer for you !! Cheers Dougie
  15. i,m sure someone may correct me but do the seals on the rear high level windows on the corner of the roof and side of the car not fail on these and send water dripping down in all directions?? just a thought you may like to check Dougie
  16. jeeeees thats a good price i was only getting around 30 for a standard one i also got ripped off with a cat i got from work out of a pertrol vapour recorvy unit that stood 800mm tall 300 in the centre and got just 70 for that one o an my neighbour watched some pikies nick thelast one i had off my driveway!! think ill pop over and see you next time u got my hands on one Dougie
  17. News Ali Congratulations to you and yours ! Its good fun mate once they start sleeping through the night that is Dougie
  18. Plenty of nights left yet David if you fancy burning the midnight oil to get her on the road??? Only kidding no worries mate good luck with the Motor Not weird mate but you have hit the nail on the head there................... they are brilliant / loads of fun when they are in the right mood / love spending all my spare time with them / have there very own unique character from day one / very tough and durable / enjoy bouncing off stuff / love getting covered in mud O and ARE A CONSTANT DRAIN ON THE FINANCES but would never change either for anything Not to worry western thanks for replying anyhoo
  19. Attach a spring balance to ball joint bore and pull balance to determine effort required to turn swivel pin houhousing. Resesance, once initial inertia has been overcome, should be 1.16 >>1.46kg. adjust by removing or adding shims to top swivel pin When setting is correct remove top swivel bolts apply loctite and refit to 78 Nm and bend over lock tabs. Hope this helps copied out of the land rover manual. (must figure out how to cut and paste off that PDF) Regards Dougie
  20. there is a spline on the top next to the diff lock lever similar to that of a gear shifter on a motor bike, You could always try moving that around one spline at a time and see if your problem lies there? All will be apparent once you expose the linkage i had to do mine on my disco as it was siezed But its easy and make sure you apply plenty of water proof grease to the centre sliding pin when you have it open as this is where my problem lay. HTH if not someone will shout me down with a better more accurate solution soon enough Dougie
  21. Hi People, I am holidaying this year again in cornwall St issey 10 mins from Padstow after haveing such a great first time in cornwall last year in our Pikey van we are back for 10nigths then off to the Great Dorset Steam Fair for 5 nights So was just wondering if anyone on here in the cornwall area fancied a day out on the lanes i,m available for this between 17-23th of August ?? Is there much to do down there? Dont really fancy anything overly extreme as i will not be popular with er in doors if i smash the car up 430miles from home Will be with the wife and kids if we can make a full day (maybe tie in with a picnic/BBQ on a hill somewhere?) of it or maybe sneek out on my own for half day or so?? And have a drive past a decent ciderfarm too would be a Bonus I can then take some local cloudy stuff back to HQ for a night ! Let me know if anyone fancies meeting up for run out the more the merrier... Thanks Dougie
  22. yep thats what i thought and if you look on the likes of paddocks you will see two different part numbers for the two different sidea But i can confirm that the bearmach model i have will fit (or at least seem to as i have not had the RH side off) either side When you place it flat on the floor next to the old one it seems like the motor housing is back to front (and would indeed be for the other side) but if you take the mechinisim and push it all the way to the bottom then ever so slightly tease the motor houseing passed the bottom slide (the bit that fixes to the glass) then wapow! it now fits properly I may be wrong in saying that it will fit the other side but i am only relaying my findings Any way the regulator i thought was for the RH is now happily working fine on the LH and after a little vasaline in the runners its moving a treat now! Thanks for you help guys Dougie
  23. Yes it was the regulator had gone passed its limit! So i got a bearmach one last night and tried to put it in but found they had supplied me with the wrong side Have sent the bread knife over today to swap and she says he told her they are compatible look....did his magic and its swapped to fit a left hand side!!! didn't think this was possible i couldn't do it last nioght anyway! Is this guy trying to have me over or has someone else done this swap?? just before i get on the phone and play heck with him and not for the first time i'm afraid TIA Dougie
  24. Mark is this what you are after?.......... my standard battery is 160mm and would fit here with some teasing and my breathers will need to be put on tight 90 elbows which was the plan to start with but got carried away and didn't have them at the time. ?The standard size will also fit this way once you have moved some gubbins that the ECG was connected to. A wider look at how the rigid duct i was on about fits down the side of the air box once you have moved it about 50mm in and the same forward (dont my breather pipes look new and shiny? there nearly 18mths old ) And just if you were interested this is how the breathers finish. Not seen it done before (probs has) so i may need to copyright this idea But i was sick of them getting ripped off every time you went down a tight lane I think it looks good, neat and practical too Hope this helps Mark if i can help further let me know Cheers Dougie PS the duct tape is currently keeping holding a bin bag in place to keep my car dry while i wait for the delivery of my new window regulator!
  25. This is outrageous but just goes to show the sorry state that this country has become IMHO. My thoughts are with Gresh and his family at this time and hope that sense and sensibility will prevail in this tradgic case so he can be with those that need him most! Good Luck Gresh Dougie & family
