  1. You could buy the metal gasket that goes in between - probably better than a drawing......
  2. I fitted alloys 2 years ago that came with standard steel nuts and shiney caps. The caps are now very rusty and make the wheels look carp. There used to be an ad in the magazines for some guy that supplied stainless steel nuts but I can't find an ad for him now. Does anyone know where I can buy some, or even find out how much they are. Regards
  3. Thanks for all the advice. Had been wondering about the grip position too. Grommit - you have a PM Regards
  4. Profile filled in. I'm in Dublin. I've been to every tool store and auto factors with no success. I'll wait until Thursday to see if the Draper one I ordered from Difflock turns up, and I can't find one somewhere else I'll do it with the click type. If you can suggest anywhere I can get one I'd apprciate it
  5. I'm changing my timing belt (200tdi) at the moment. Manual says to use dial type torque meter. I ordered one off Diff Lock 11 days ago and it has not turned up. Have tried to contact them but no response to email and won't answer phone (not sure if they are affected by the flooding) I'm under pressure to get the job finished and wondered of anyone has done the job with a micrometer (click) type torque meter? I can't get a dial type here in Ireland with out spending a couple of hundred euro........... sad but true....... I have looked at Les's article in the Tech Archive and he appears to use a micometer type. As I havn't changed one before, I wary of doing it with out the proper tool for fear of the belt snapping prematurely in 20K miles Help!
  6. demist2.pdfSee here!for a good way of hiding the wiring. I'll most likely do it the same way. As regards window de misting, a mate of mine fitted the military parts a few years ago and the result is great ,It basically just takes a feed from the flex hose that goes to the windsheild vent and blows it through a rather crude hole on the side. I had planned to do this years ago but never got round to it. I want to find a couple of vents in a scrap yard that would do the job that i can graft into the sides of the dash so it loks a bit neater. I have a of the parts that i will attempt to attach, but not sure if I can......ok , just saw the attach bit below.........hope it works. I'm doing a fair bit of work on mine at the moment and I'm stripingout a lot of the dash, so I plan to do the demist while I got some momentum...... I have a heated screen already so I may just direct all the air to the sides!
  7. Hi, First post on this forum, but see many names familiar from others..... I'm trying to source the heating elements for heated wing mirrors. I have been in touch with Plowmans and I am aware that Scorpion do a kit, but does anyone know of anywhere I can call where they'll know exactly what I'm talking about and say "ah yes, we have some that will fit a Defender, how many do you want" instead of "ooooh, aaaah, I thnk....." Thanks
