  1. If your timing belt had gone then you would hear alsorts of strange noises when you spin the engine over (piston clouting valves etc) i would say its more likely its slipped. but hard to tell if you were driving along with no faults is your lift pump lifting fuel? is the fuel solnoid opening? with bonnet up should be able to here it click when u turn the key to the point before starting is the engine turning over when u turn the key? i am resenable local (near hemel) and have the timing kit tools, but sadly i dont have a car at the moment if your not in a rush then i can help

  12. Hi friend of mine has a 2.5nad in a 90 the nut came undon that holds the sprocket on to the pump as so it jumped a few teeth on the pump apart from that the timing was correct which was lucky. i ve looked at the pump and it seams ok the front seal was damaged as was the key in the key way. repalaced these. the engine starts well but alot of blue smoke which turns to a very sooty smoke once warm, does this mean the pumpis buggered and he needs a new one? or is there something else that is wrong

  14. My disco 200tdi which i rebuilt last year has a very annoying tapping sound, i ve chcked the tappets and they needed adjusting which i ve done according to the manual, but still the noise continues i cant really figure out where its comeing from, it does die down as the engine warms up and also get quiter the higher up the rev range you go more so when the turbo is boosting. i have an oil pressure guage and the reading i am getting are around 40 55 psi on start up and heavy acceleration but once the engine is warmed up it can at idle drop to 13 to 14psi i ve been banashed to my room and told not to work on it due to slipping two disc in my neck, but any help would be great, i am worried its a bearing slippd on the crank shaft but i really hope not as i wont have the tme to work on her any more soon
