  1. Well thanks for the reassuring post about over heating. I've done the bleed from cold. Opened the bleed screw and header tank whilst engine running and waited for the thermostat to open...
  2. Hey sorry for the late reply was working away and living in a field for awhile. The head was a second hand which had been skimmed and pressure checked. The head bolts were from foundry 4x4 and the head gasket was genuine. The needle never went into the red and the head never felt particularly hot on touch.
  3. Hey guys I've got a TD5 2000 110. Recently had a cylinder head replacement and then not long after had top hose burst on me. The gauge didn't move into the red but I noticed it when I stopped at a red light and had slight steam rising from the bonnet. Stopped the engine immediately and waited for it too cool down until I retopped the coolant. It took 2-4 litres of water but now I've got pressurised coolant system when engine at 20-30 min average cruising or after a hard short drive, when I try to bleed the system it has a continous slow stream of tiny bubbles only noticeable if you look closely (bleed valve top hose)... Is this still air bleeding out? Or am I into another expensive head job because I really can't afford it again. It's loosing coolant slightly but I have noticed the top hose is forcing water out near the main head join because of the over pressure. It's wet to touch at the edge of the pipe and you can see drip marks underneath so i'm putting the water loss down too that. Bleeding procedure was pour coolant in through the header til steady stream came out of the bleed valve and then start the engine and run with bleed valve slightly open. I haven't unclipped the header tank and moved it upwards because it didn't seem that genuinely important. Cheers in advance guys.....please give me some good news.
  4. Useful bunch you are...
  5. Can anything be done for td5 110 fuel caps? Be so much easier to have one key.
  6. Or just keep spare batteries for your phone and a spare mobile phone car charger...Even if you break down you're still going to have battery?
  7. Ah wicked I'm gonna strip the free spool side of things due to a leaky seal and a dicky spool lever. Anything I should know before I go? Was thinking a 10mm line. Should I go for galvanised or not? Read somewhere its a weaker line but could be wrong?
  8. Land Rover Aeroparts Series 3 or this one.
  9. Hey guys going to be refitting my hydraulic winch with a new line after finding some lovely bits of crushed wire a couple of layers down. So... I don't have the money to be spending on a lovely piece of synthetic rope so what diameter wire should I go for and any recommendations on suppliers would be great. I will be using the winch to do self recovery of a rather heavy td5 110 and recovery of other people stuck and dragging the odd tree in the woods etc Cheers guys.
  10. Fitted several britparts. One to a 110 and one to a 90. Fitted reasonably well. Horrible job with the 110 was leaking fuel like nothing else and covered in mud n ****.
  11. Long story short.... Anyone know of a reliable source for a good second hand head? Mine has cracked on the injector port and I simply don't have the money to buy a brand new head. Thanks guys
  12. Yeah sound cheers mate....I'll have to crawl under tommorow...track rod end, glow plugs, fix dodgy amp and scrawl underneath again, arn't land rovers fun
  13. Tried that still didn't want to move....Guess I'll have to take it off and a have a little lookey see....
  14. Right yeah I figured the hydraulic pump could be anything down to the adaptor. So a pto shaft that requires full physical assertion and shoulder up against the seatbox is definitely not right?
  15. Hey guys just looking for some advice on commonly used pto pumps on the lt230 transfer box? I couldn't see a plate on the bottom of mine but the back case had a logo machined into it which I think is FF. Which makes me think firstfour.co.o.uk but I was tired and light wasn't good so I can't quite remember.. Any info you guys have would be great. Also should the pto engagement shaft be incredibly stiff? I've tried lubing the linkages with abit of wd and copper grease but still seems overly difficult. Cheers.
